During this 2024 offseason, Maxey won the NBA Cares Bob Lanier Community Assist Award. He got this recognition due to his contributions to the youth in Philadelphia and Dallas, his hometown.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Sixers guard hosted a “Friends and Family Weekend” in Philadelphia and Dallas. This event featured golf tournaments and a free youth skills camp. Also, Tyrese Maxey expressed his gratitude after receiving the award.

Maxey made this gesture as a means of giving back to his community. The 23-year-old was excited that the Sixers chose him. Also, Maxey was grateful for the max contract offer from the franchise. After an outstanding postseason against the Knicks and regular season where he averaged 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and a steal in 70 games, the Sixers franchise awarded the 23-year-old guard a five-year max contract of $204 million.

According to the Inquirer, he made this gesture weeks after signing his Maxey contract. Maxey also gave out two scholarships to reflect the Philly event’s mission. This mission was “to provide students with the support needed to pursue their academic endeavors.”
