It’s Official: New Grand Prix Coming to IndyCar In 2026

IndyCar has added a marquee event to their schedule.

IndyCar fans, it’s time to get excited because a new race known as the IndyCar Grand Prix of Arlington will join the standard lineup of 17 for the NTT Series come 2026 and take place on the streets of North Texas. That’s right, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has joined forces with Team Penske, REV Entertainment, Texas Rangers Baseball, and the city of Arlington to host the event in the heart of Arlington’s downtown Metroplex. This area is known for bringing in thousands of people each year to Cowboys and Texas Rangers games but that’s all about to change.

Why the Grand Prix Is a Huge Move

Putting IndyCar on the schedule in Texas once again is a big move for Penske Entertainment and the City of Arlington because, in a way, it’s bringing back the spirit of the American Dream. This idea excites Mayor Jim Ross to bring IndyCar back into North Texas because it will benefit the area economically, provide an unforgettable experience, and set new expectations for those in and around the sprawling city. The move is also historic for Arlington’s entertainment district and those partnering to make this happen.

Roger Penske, chairman of the Penske Corporation, has expressed immense gratitude for the partnerships with Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys, REV Entertainment, the Texas Rangers, and the wide range of leadership staff heavily involved in making this a reality because it will take a lot of extra effort to pull it off. It will be interesting to see in action, and it is something that Jerry Jones could never have imagined becoming a part of AT&T stadium’s history since its opening in 2009.

An Interesting Track Set-Up

The IndyCar Arlington Grand Prix setup will perhaps be the most exciting aspect because cars will weave through a 2.73-mile track between AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field. Several sporting events, including Motocross, Monster Jam, Boxing, Baseball, and the National Football League (NFL), are held in the area yearly. Yet professional racing has never been one of them until now. An announcement was made at yesterday’s celebration ceremony at Texas Live regarding the re-introduction of the sport to the area since halting races at Texas Motor Speedway for the 2024 season.

The goal is to create the next big “eye-catching” event in IndyCar history to draw in spectators from across the globe. Undoubtedly, it will do just that with seasoned leadership executive Bill Miller heading it. The event is long overdue, and everyone is ready to add another sporting event to the area’s already diverse sports lineup.

The news of the event marked a special day in history for all those making the idea come to life and something everyone is working to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience because if there’s one thing the NTT Series does best, hosting an event of this magnitude and is primarily why the Indy 500 is the most popular event in the series to date.

What Fans Can Expect

Aside from the thrill and excitement of high-endurance open-wheel vehicles coursing around a track at speeds over 230 mph at the IndyCar Arlington Grand Prix, fans can experience the fun for an entire weekend. It will operate like most sporting events and host live entertainment, provide general admission, reservation check-in for guests who booked online, VIP hospitality areas, and celebration zones.

However, because this is a newer IndyCar event, it’s advised to go ahead and start looking into reservations as soon as tickets go on sale sometime this spring. More information will be made available as it draws nearer to spring, but an exact date is not yet set. In the meantime, information is available online through the (GP Arlington) website, which details the track’s design, the number of turns, mileage, average speed a driver can use on the track, and the distance, so stay tuned.

Final Thoughts

Bringing IndyCar back to North Texas is a massive deal since Texas Motor Speedway was removed from the schedule this past season. There was always the idea to get the NTT Series back to North Texas, but no one was sure if that was just wishful thinking until now. Get ready for an action-packed and thrilling two-day IndyCar event that will unite thousands of people from all walks of life in harmony sharing their mutual love for the sport of racing.
