Arne Slot Delivers Shocking Verdict On Alisson Becker’s Injury Setback

Liverpool faces Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow.

Arne Slot revealed the situation on the ground concerning the injury of their star Goalkeeper Alisson Becker. The Brazilian goalkeeper was removed during Liverpool’s 1-nil win against Crystal Palace. The Reds goalie fell on the ground after making a clearance. He was seen holding his hamstring. After the game and assessment of the injury, Arne Slot gave a shocking update on the injury.

The Dutchman believes the goalkeeper will be out for some length of time, which may be after the November international break. Liverpool will now need the services of Caoimhín Kelleher ahead of the games waiting for the Reds. Liverpool’s win against Crystal made it 6 out of 7, as they stayed on top of the table ahead of the international break.

Crystal Palace-Liverpool Recap

The Reds traveled to Palace to play their seventh game of the season. The Reds took control of the game and were able to find the lead through a nice flick from Diogo Jota, after square play from Cody Gakpo. The Reds continued to dominate with the likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, and Ryan Gravenberch controlling the midfield, as Crystal Palace struggled to find their rhythm.

Liverpool was unable to find another goal until the game ended, however, chances fell for Jota, Luis Diaz, Cody Gapko, and Salah in both halves, and they were unable to get the right clinical touch to win the game comfortably. Crystal Palace could have gotten an equalizer through Eze and Sarr, however, Alisson was solid before he was removed.

Arne Slot On the Keepers Injury

The Dutchman analyzed the situation of Alisson’s injury. He believes the keeper will be out for weeks, and he will not make the Brazil squad for the international break. He also believes the 31-year-old might not recover until after the November international break. Slot said: “We don’t know definitely what happened but we do if you walk off like he does that normally means he’s not in the Brazil squad and I don’t expect him to be in the team in the first game we play afterward,” he said. “It’s going to take a few weeks, I assume. I think it is his hamstring.”

Slot continued on the goalkeeper situation at the club: “Alisson is our clear number one and is the best goalkeeper in the world. It’s always a blow when he gets injured, not only for himself but also for us as a team.”

Slot On Replacement

The Dutchman also talked about the possible replacement for the Brazilian. Alisson was replaced by Vitezslav Jarros during the Crystal Palace game, and Jarros gave off an impressive display showing off calmness, and great distribution. Also, Slot mentioned Kelleher who is the second choice, believing he is a great replacement for Alisson ahead of the Big fixtures.

He said: “The positive thing for the team, not only in the goalkeeper position but also in almost every position, is that we also have a second option that’s really good. Caoimhin [Kelleher] has already shown this season that he’s quite clearly the number two goalkeeper. He did well. He was sick yesterday, but it’s very pleasing to see even our third goalkeeper can have an impact on results.”
