Khabib Nurmagomedov Announces Islam Makhachev’s Big Return In January
Khabib Nurmagomedov has posted great news about Islam Makhachev and his combat performance in the octagon. Makhachev’s last fight was an exciting victory over Dustin Poirier though he has not competed since then. As for his next opponent, people have been discussing it for quite some time, we now have more information as to when he will fight again.
In an interview, Khabib mentioned Islam Makhachev’s reign as UFC lightweight champion and said that he will be back in action very soon As for Khabib, he said Makhachev will also defend his title in January but he has not said who the opponent will be.
Arman Tsarukyan Against Islam Makhachev
Also, Islam Makhachev bought opponent suggestions including Arman Tsarukyan. The two first competed in a fight in April 2019, with Makhachev emerging as the winner through a unanimous decision. We might see the names of Islam Makhachev against Arman Tasrukyan in the initial cards of 2025 and unlike the previous fight, this time the UFC lightweight championship will be on the line. Tsarukyan will be getting his title shot after his win over the former champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 300 where he rode a four-fight winning streak.

Khabib Nurmagomedov said this about the future of Makhachev. “This sport is growing very quickly, lots of youngsters are emerging. There will always be good opponents to Islam. Islam is now not only champion but he is pound-for-pound the best fighter in the world today.”

Because of the training of Khabib Nurmagomedov and the dedication of Makhachev, he has not tasted defeat since his second fight in the UFC when he was beaten by Adriano Martens. Since then, he has racked up a winning streak of 14 and defeated three ex-UFC champions as well as four fighters amongst the top 15 ranked fighters in UFC’s lightweight division.
Khabib Nurmagomedov talked about the upcoming fight with Makhachev. “UFC offered us a fight already, in January. We accepted it. UFC will announce very soon, where it will take place, and who will be Islam’s opponent. I will not make an announcement myself, but I can say that we are focused on January.”
