In an interview, Khabib mentioned Islam Makhachev’s reign as UFC lightweight champion and said that he will be back in action very soon As for Khabib, he said Makhachev will also defend his title in January but he has not said who the opponent will be.

Also, Islam Makhachev bought opponent suggestions including Arman Tsarukyan. The two first competed in a fight in April 2019, with Makhachev emerging as the winner through a unanimous decision. We might see the names of Islam Makhachev against Arman Tasrukyan in the initial cards of 2025 and unlike the previous fight, this time the UFC lightweight championship will be on the line. Khabib Nurmagomedov talked about the upcoming fight with Makhachev. “UFC offered us a fight already, in January. We accepted it. UFC will announce very soon, where it will take place, and who will be Islam’s opponent. I will not make an announcement myself, but I can say that we are focused on January.”
