Arne Slot Reveals his Honest Opinion on Title Contention

Arne Slot knows his club must improve to reach their goals this year. Liverpool.

Arne Slot dropped his honest opinion as Liverpool remains top of the Premier League table. So far this season the Reds have won five out of six games, and they’ve only conceded two goals. The game they didn’t win was a loss against Nottingham Forest. Arne Slot praised his side on their last hard-fought win against Wolves at the Molineux however he believes his team still has a lot to prove. Liverpool has yet to face some of the league big boys, including Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Aston Villa.

There’s indeed a lot to prove by his side. And also in the Champions League where they’ve got Real Madrid, Bayern Leverkusen, and Leipzig to play, Arne Slot believes until his side provides awesome results against those teams then they can’t be truly regarded as contenders.

Liverpool’s Season

The Reds began their season with a 2-nil victory over Ipswich. After they moved to beat Brentford also with the same scoreline. Their third game was a tough challenge against Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United, however, Arne Slot’s side brilliantly overwhelmed them winning 3-nil.

In the aftermath, Liverpool and all teams went on the international break. The return came with a big disappointment as they fell at home to Nottingham Forest. Ever since the Reds have resumed their unbeaten run. They’ve defeated Bournemouth 3-nil, beaten AC Milan 3-1, and in the weekend defeated Wolves 2-1.

Also in their Carabao Cup tie against West Ham, they thrashed the Hammers 5-1. Despite this run of great results, Arne Slot believes his side is yet to prove itself. He believes that his predecessor Jurgen Klopp has left a great team and he still has to prove how better the team can get.

Arne Slot On His Team

He spoke back about the Wolves game, praising his opponents. He gave them credit for their performance and display. Slot said: “It’s almost ideal that we played Wolves today because we are top and they’re last and they don’t deserve to be last. They had a very difficult fixture list and I’ve seen many games of them and in almost every game they deserve more. You could even argue [that] today because it wasn’t like we were so much better than them.”

He continued analyzing their winning. Slot believed Wolves could have snatched a better result against them. He said: “They were in the game [and] doing a lot of good things. If they keep doing this against other teams as well they will never end up No.20 [in the league].

Arne Slot On More To Prove

Due to the run of fixtures, the Dutchman believes the team has still not gotten to the promised land, he believes the team must prove themselves against the big opponents that lie in wait for them. He said: “We still have to prove that when we come across Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea [and] Aston Villa [to see] if we can then still be up there with Champions League games included as well. I think everybody is realistic enough. All the players have so much experience that they understand six games into the season doesn’t give you a realistic view of the league table”

Slot Continued saying: “That is more like in 19 games then you can really feel, ‘OK, where are we?’ But of course it helps if you get some good results, especially if you bring in a new manager and a new staff and being a successor of such a successful one. Of course everybody understands that if we’d have lost four or five out of these first six fixtures life would’ve been a bit different than it is.”
