It is worth recounting that the bout was held at Le Colisee and resulted in his winning the regional Cruiserweight title. Despite an aggressive beginning by Osias, Pascal proved to be stronger and more experienced, which made him win convincingly in the later rounds.
Early Tactical Rounds
Jean Pascal came out in the first round looking to land on his powerful right and to feel out his opponent with jabs. Terry Osias, however, just maneuvered sideways and kept his range while operating from behind the jab. In round two, Osias landed a straight jab and a right cross on him, but it didn’t even seem to phase him. Osias kept on unleashing the left-and-right hooks in the first few rounds but he sprung back with strong double punches that made Osias cover up.
Osias Takes Command In The Mid Stages
In the middle rounds, Osias was outboxing Jean Pascal, counterpunching and taking advantage of the space created by his failed attempts at throwing right hooks. The quick straight rights and left-hand counters allowed Osias to stay close and was able to be a contender when he failed to make specific combinations.
For much of the fight, Osias kept a large number of punches thrown per minute, while in the later part of the match, it decreased. Still, the referee signaled that it was a slip, which left him rather bewildered. Nevertheless, he did not let up and on Osias, hurting him once more towards the end of round nine with a combination of punches.
Jean Pascal ends the fight in Round 10
In the tenth round, Jean Pascal increased his momentum and connected with a right cross that put Osias on the ropes before falling to the ground. The bout’s special referee, Martin Forest, counted his timing up to 56 seconds in the tenth round before he finally stopped the fight in favor of him, an outright knockout.
Going into round 10 of the fight, the scorecards were fairly tight, with one of the judges giving Osias a slight lead of 87-84, while the other two judges had given him the lead of 86-85 and even a surprising 89-82.
Jean Pascal’s win was after the fight against Michael Eifert, where he was in the decision loss bout eliminator for the International Boxing Federation light heavyweight title early in March 2023. Before that, he had emerged victorious in the fights against Fanlong Meng, Badou Jack, and Marcus Browne. He also had a WBC light heavyweight title reign from 2009 to 2011 as part of his storied career.
