Daniel Dubois Stuns Anthony Joshua with Knockout Victory at Wembley

During a fight at Wembley Stadium, Daniel Dubois upset many fans and analysts as he knocked out Anthony Joshua in front of 96,000 spectators. Thanks to a string of hefty blows, Joshua was dropped and then knocked out in the fifth round by a wicked counter-right hand by Daniel.

Daniel Dubois started strong, seemingly taking the initiative and trying to put Joshua on the back foot with left hooks and right crosses. He was given two yellow cards for improper use of the head, but his aggression and that of his teammates proved fruitful. During the first round, a big right from him put Joshua down on the deck to draw a dramatic finish to the round. Despite being Hurt then again, before the count could finish, the bell rang, and Joshua was saved again.

A Fiery Start for Daniel Dubois

When the second round started, the contender Joshua looked dazed compared to the previous round. Daniel Dubois continued to emphasize the pivotal narrative of the fight. Many had wondered how Joshua would fare if the IBF heavyweight Champion landed the same number of right hands on Joshua as Filip Hrgovic had done previously. But it was Daniel who was hurting, the southpaw leaving Joshua wincing with every punch thrown.

The two fighters traded low blows at the end of a competitive second round, with Joshua finding it hard to stand. The third round was busier, with both fighters extra cautious as Joshua tried to knock Dubois out with a single punch. But to that, Daniel fired in big shots that put Joshua down, making his route to triumph even more winding.

The fourth round also introduced more confusion. Joshua went down early, but referee Marcus McDonnell seemed to think it was a slip. Following this, McDonnell appeared to stop the fight again, thinking that he had seen his opponent fall twice in combat during the chaotic moments.

A Journey of Redemption

In his post-fight interview, Dubois expressed his gratitude, stating that

“It’s been a long journey, I’m grateful to be in this position,” Dubois said. “I’m a gladiator, a warrior to the end. This is my redemption story.”

Joshua hinted at a need for another rebuilding phase, while promoter Frank Warren mentioned that the team would discuss Daniel Dubois’ next steps.
