Six Oklahoma City Thunder Players Listed on CBS Sports Top 100

Oklahoma City Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder season is inching closer and closer to beginning. With the 2024-2025 NBA season right around the corner, CBS Sports once again dropped its list of the Top 100 NBA players. Following an impressive season and making upgrades to the roster, Oklahoma City had six of its players crack the Top 100. With a total of six, the Thunder are above nearly every other team in the league, besides the New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the New Orleans Pelicans, which also have six. Being one of four teams to feature over five players, the Thunder are expected to find a lot of success this season.

Here is a closer look at the Oklahoma City Thunder players that made the list.

Starting the Thunder players on CBS’ annual list, Lu Dort was named the 96th-best player in the NBA. Dort is one of the best defensive players in the league and is an essential part of the success of Oklahoma City. His offense has been the weaker side of his game, but his defense is among the best. Next, the 76th-best player on the list is Isaiah Hartenstein. Hartenstein recently joined the team and is expected to make an impact.

The Thunder was in desperate need of the size and physicality of a true center and that is what he brings to the team. Another recent addition to the team, Alex Caruso, was listed in the 65th spot. Caruso has played for multiple organizations and was on the 2020 NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers. Caruso is a crafty veteran who adds to an already deep Oklahoma City guard rotation.

Continuing the list and being the first to crack the Top 50 is Jalen Williams. Williams was listed as the 37th-best player and is a link to Oklahoma City’s Big 3. The two-way star is a vocal point of the offense and a significant contributor on defense. Chet Holmgren is the next player even though next season will only be his second season in the NBA. Holmgren finished last season as the runner-up for the ROTY Award and Top 5 for DPOY.

He has the potential to be one of the best in the league, but for now, he is listed at 30. The last player, and one of the best players in the NBA, is Shai Gilgeous Alexander. SGA, as they call him, led the youngest #1 seed in NBA history and nearly won his first MVP award last season. The explosive guard cracked the Top 5 and was ranked as the fourth-best player in the league.

Final Thoughts

Therefore, being one of only four teams with six players is a great honor for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Though the preseason rankings hold value in their unique way, it is not an accurate prediction of how things will unfold. The Thunder are expected to do great things, and could ultimately exceed expectations. Along with other stars on the list, the Oklahoma City unit shines among the brightest.
