The Truth About Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic’s Relationship

Luka Doncic trying to climb the MVP Ladder

The truth about Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic’s relationship might not be what you had in mind. Doncic, 25, and Jokic, 29, play for different NBA teams — the Dallas Mavericks and the Denver Nuggets — but both are European yet break the rather negative stereotype of the “soft European” who’s soft-spoken.

Despite the “soft European” stereotype and negativity, Doncic and Jokic emerged as forces to be reckoned with in the NBA, despite their lack of athleticism. Doncic and Jokic’s arguably elite play, high basketball IQs, and ball-handling skills made them unstoppable scoring forces. Read on for all of the latest details.

Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic Shatter a Stereotype

Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic have more in common than you might think. Doncic and Jokic are two of the best players in the NBA, but they both possess an incredible touch from all scoring levels while shattering a negative stereotype of the “soft European.”

The “soft” part of the “soft European” stereotype can halt a European NBA player’s progress, but only if they allow it to stop their progress. For example, Dirk Nowitzki, a Dallas Mavericks legend, reportedly fueled himself positively and became one of the greatest power forwards ever.

Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic’s Best Qualities

The on-court dynamic between Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic whenever they compete against each other has been interesting for the public to monitor. But, at the same time, the off-court dynamic between Doncic and Jokic has been just as interesting, if not more.

ClutchPoints recently reported that Doncic and Jokic have been “very friendly” with one another in their recent interactions, such as the NBA All-Star Weekend events and before and after the Dallas Mavericks and Denver Nuggets matchups in Dallas and Denver. Doncic and Jokic’s reported extreme friendliness is a good thing though.

Marc Stein Confirms a Fact About the Two

NBA reporter Marc Stein recently confirmed a fact about Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic. Stein appeared on DNVR Sports’ The DNBA Show and said there’s a “genuine fondness” between Doncic and Jokic.

Stein said, “There’s just a genuine fondness there. They get along great and of course that leads everyone to wonder [if] will they ever play together … They are, I mean when you think about it, two of the five best players in the world come from such a small part of the world, so I think that’s where the bond is. They’re just these all-world talents from a very unique and small place on the planet, so the bond… I think they only get closer as pals.”

Stein’s comments were heartwarming and reassuring. But just because Doncic and Jokic reportedly share a genuine fondness, doesn’t mean the two will team up someday, despite the probability they’d create a ton of magic on the court as a duo. Moreover, they have a big rivalry going on in the league as the two teams are pushing to become the best team in the Western Conference.
