Manchester City ‘Well Placed’ to Sign Bayern Star Jamal Musiala

Manchester City is reportedly leading the chase to sign Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, with the English champions identifying the 21-year-old as their top target for next summer. Musiala, whose contract at Bayern runs until June 2026, has attracted interest from several major clubs amid growing speculation about his future.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Real Madrid are also said to be closely monitoring the German international’s situation. However, according to Football Insider, Manchester City are in a strong position to secure his signature. City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, is a long-time admirer of Musiala, and the club is reportedly willing to make a significant financial investment to bring him to the Etihad next summer.

Musiala has been in excellent form for Bayern early in the 2024-25 season, contributing two goals and three assists in five appearances across all competitions. Since joining Bayern in 2019 and breaking into the first team in 2020, Musiala has made 168 appearances, scoring 45 goals and providing 34 assists.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer has stated that the club will do everything possible to keep Musiala for the long term. However, Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, acknowledged the difficulty of extending Musiala’s contract due to increasing interest from other clubs (mainly Manchester City). “It’s difficult, but not impossible, as Jamal knows what he has at Bayern Munich,” Eberl told Sport1, adding that talks are intensifying as Bayern aim to retain their star player.

Jamal Musiala is becoming an important player in the Bayern squad as time passes by. Day-by-Day, he is constantly working on his skills and proving his worth in the star-studded Bayern team. As of now, he remains a key player in the squad and expectations for his performance are very high.

Consequences if the Contract Isn’t Renewed

Bayern Munich will find themselves in a challenging position if they are unable to secure Jamal Musiala on a new contract before next summer. The club would be reluctant to let the German international enter the final year of his deal, as they risk losing him on a free transfer in 2026 maybe to Manchester City or Real Madrid.

While a free transfer for Musiala would be a historic move to Manchester City, Bayern could still demand around 100 million pounds for him next summer if it becomes evident that he won’t be renewing his contract. Bayern can make a great business of Jamal Musiala by selling him out (to Manchester City) in the market but thinking of the club’s future, they won’t be wanting such a situation to arise.

Manchester City is seeking a long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, and signing Musiala would make a huge statement for the English champions. However, they will face stiff competition for the talented forward, who also shone for Germany at Euro 2024, scoring three goals during the tournament. This would be a huge step if a star-studded City side managed to land one of the hottest prospects in world football right now.
