Red Sox Fall Flat In Bronx Battle

Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox went to the Bronx for the rivalry showdown that has left the BoSox heading out of town with their tail between their legs. Their rivalry is one of the greatest in sports history, but this weekend fell flat for the Sox.  With a hint of the Red Sox, we all know and love last night, they couldn’t keep up with the Yankees series and head to face the Rays, the end might be near for this season.

Red Sox Get Further Away From Playoffs

The first two games were taken by the Yanks in disappointing losses for Boston nearing the end of the season. They are desperate for wins after ending the series with Baltimore, down 2-1 final score of 12-1 Orioles. Getting walloped at home this season, things are turning south for the Boston Red Sox. While the Orioles defeat the Tigers today, they continue to inch toward the playoffs and push out the Red Sox.

If the Red Sox were able to perform at home this season, things may be different but as we have seen that has been a letdown. There is little time to turn things around, with Triston Cassas in a slump and off Alex Cora’s lineup for most of the week, last night’s game gave us a small glimmer of hope.

Sox Lost Momentum After Last Nights Rally

Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole walked Rafael Devers in what Red Sox pitcher, Bryan Bello called  “weak” and the Red Sox lit up the Bronx—taking the win in a final score of 7-1 Red Sox.   That type of hustle in Saturday’s game makes the difference this late in the season but it’s too bad that we can’t rely on a consistent rally from the Boston Red Sox. Today’s Red Sox game in the Bronx was another nail in the coffin. Finishing the series down 3-1 they head to face Tampa with their tail between their legs.

Series after series the BoSox has been flat. The season is nearing an end and boy things sure look bleak Sunday afternoon for the Red Sox having any chance at the playoffs. They have lost the last four out of six series against the Orioles, Mets, Tigers, and Diamondbacks, tying with the Blue Jays. Leaving the Bronx, down five out of seven of their last series, the Red Sox look desperate walking into their final games of the season.

Whatever Will Be, Will Be Boston

It feels like the Boston Red Sox are tired and have lost their appetite for a chance at the playoffs this season. To be honest, the fans are probably sick over it as well. There have been miracles that have happened before, but not much can be done about the state of affairs in the race for the AL Wildcard. Unless Baltimore, Kansas City, Minnesota, Detroit, and Seattle have some major defeats in the next few days, the Boston Red Sox will most certainly be packing things in for the season. As the loyal fanbase community in New England tends to say in September, “There is always next year.”
