The Buffalo Bills were dealt another blow to their defense after LB Terrel Bernard left their Thursday night football game in the first quarter against the Miami Dolphins. The Bills defensive team captain will surely be missed over the next few weeks due to his experience and tackling ability.

Bad news for the Buffalo Bills regarding Terrel Bernard, who was expected to make giant leads for Buffalo’s defense. The defensive team captain is expected to miss the next four games with a pectoral injury. The news comes as a major blow to the defense of the Buffalo Bills. Bernard is coming off of a strong 2023 season in which he posted 143 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and three fumble recoveries. The Bills turned to Terrel Bernard after former 1st round pick Tremaine Edmunds departed Buffalo for Chicago in free agency. The franchise was hoping for another strong year out of Bernard after losing Matt Milano for most of the season due to a torn bicep.

The Bills will turn their defensive play calling over to LB Baylon Spector. The former Clemson Tiger registered ten tackles in the Bills’ triumphant victory over the Miami Dolphins. Experience is the main issue for Spector. He has missed a plethora of times due to multiple injuries. Spector was selected in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL draft by the Bills. Surrendering the start of the season due to various injuries, Spector found a role on special teams in 2023.
The third-year depth player was expected to play the same role in 2024 behind Milano and Terrel Bernard. With both linebackers missing extended periods, Buffalo will hope that Spector can replicate the ten-tackle performance he had against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football.
