76ers Training Camp Day 2 Highlight: Paul George’s Integration

76ers training camp, Paul George

The 76ers training camp’s second day had another highlight, Paul George. Paul joined the team on a four-year contract. While in the training camp, players and staff could experience and make possible plans on how to integrate the six-time All-NBA into the Sixers star duo. Thus, what are some key takeaways?

Paul George’s Integration

Paul George’s addition to the Sixers’ team was a jackpot for the franchise. After Maxey’s postseason shine in 2024, the franchise knew they needed a complimentary star to strengthen the team for another run next season. After signing Paul George, how the All-Star player would integrate into the Sixer’s star caliber became a concern.

During this training camp, Paul George’s attitude to work signified support despite being a top NBA player. During his post-contract interview, the six-time All-NBA opened up on doing whatever it takes to support his new team. Also, before the Philadelphia 76ers, PG 8 had a massive impact on the LA Clippers team when Kawhi Leonard wasn’t available. Thus, he can work seamlessly with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey given his training camp performance.

This is the 1st time that I’ve played with an elite point guard & big man all at once. Nothing’s forced for one person alone – we can share responsibility. I see us flowing. All three of us look at the game the same way. – Paul George’s comment on teaming up with the team’s star on Sixers media day.

Paul’s Impact During the 76ers Training Camp

The Sixers team felt Paul George’s presence on the training camp’s court. His performance impressed Nick Nurse. Also, he commented on Paul’s presence on the court during the media interview.

You could just see a star-level player go to work. You can see it, and feel it – it’s just a level above. It’s pretty cool. I’ve been probably most impressed with the way he looks defensively. He’s doing things that we want to do, that we haven’t taught yet. He’s really got a good knack for where to be and what to do defensively.

Nick Nurse emphasized Paul’s defensive play, which is what would make the Sixers become solid title contenders next season. Also at the offensive ends, Tyrese Maxey had comments to make about Paul George’s shooting.

[Paul’s] a great shooter. He lets the game come to him. He never forces anything. We can go to him in the clutch. We know that. For a superstar, All-Star guy, he’s a plug-and-play guy. That’s a good compliment for somebody who likes the ball in his hands. If you can ever just plug-and-play anywhere, in any type of situation, that’s a good compliment

Final Thoughts

Paul George’s integration with the team is smooth. Also, he sets an example for the younger players to follow with his work ethic. Paul might not play during the preseason, which is good so that he can maintain his health throughout the next season.
