Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh expressed dissatisfaction with Pakistan captain Babar Azam‘s strategy during the Super Over. With a target of 19 runs set by the USA, Pakistan sent in batters Iftikhar Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman to chase it down.
However, Mohammed Amir struggled against left-handed batter Harmeet, bowling several wides amid a sloppy fielding effort. Eventually, Pakistan managed just 13 runs for the loss of one wicket, losing the Super Over by 5 runs.
Yuvraj Singh, who is among the brand ambassadors for the World Cup, condemned Babar Azam’s strategies, especially the choice not to permit Fakhar Zaman to confront Netravalkar. Yuvraj contended that a left-handed player would have enjoyed a benefit against the left-arm pacer’s points.
Tragically for Pakistan, Fakhar never came to protest during the Really Finished, with right-handed Shadab Khan confronting the last three conveyances after Iftikhar’s excusal.
“I don’t understand why @FakharZamanLive didn’t take strike against a lefty seamer – it’s easier for a left-hander to hit through the angle that the bowler is trying to create. The loss sounded alarm bells for Pakistan ahead of their high-stakes match against India on Sunday in New York. With India coming off a victory against Ireland, Pakistan faces a must-win scenario to keep their tournament hopes alive. Yuvraj highlighted the need for Pakistan to improve their batting and fielding to stand a chance against a strong Indian side.
“Now, Pakistan needs a must-win against India & they surely need to bat & field better! With India’s strong start, it’s gonna be hard to beat us!” Yuvraj added.
