Two championship matches give tonight’s live event, scheduled for 8 PM Eastern, a double main event feel along with heightened interest for tomorrow’s PLE. SmackDown’s penultimate episode before WWE’s much-touted, Bash at Berlin, should be “a banger!”.

Tonight’s WWE SmackDown will display the championship prowess of both the new WWE Tag-Team Champions and the US Champion, as this will be the first televised title defense for The Bloodline and also the first for “LA Knight, YEAH!”
The Street Profits vs The Bloodline: The Street Profits earned tonight’s tag-team championship match by definitively defeating DIY last week to become the number one contender. The Bloodline’s action last week was yet another beatdown of Roman Reigns, putting him through the announce table. There was no real tease with Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford for the title match. Their first title defense is going to be of utmost importance to the direction of The Bloodline’s story going into the end of the year.
Santos Escobar vs LA Knight: Santos Escobar has manufactured himself into the US Title picture just by being a thorn in the side of LA Knight, it seems. Escobar interrupted Knight’s US Title celebration and has been consistent at being a constant nuisance to Knight, even before Knight was champion. Santos defeated Andrade to become the number-one contender for the United States Championship.
The Unholy Union takes on Belaire, Cargill, and Naomi
Following The Unholy Union retaining their titles on Raw, the supernatural Women’s Tag-Team Champions have no time to rest. They are scheduled for a six-woman tag-team match tonight against Jade Cargill, Bianca Belaire, and Naomi. Blair Davenport is joining them as a natural partner after her ongoing issues with Naomi. Naomi and Davenport each have one win over the other. This should be a great contest, depending on the health of the champions because Cargill and Belaire always ‘bring it’.
Will the Waller be ‘in effect’?
Grayson Waller got what he asked for, a confrontation this week with Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes for a scheduled Grayson Waller Effect segment on tonight’s SmackDown. A-Town Down have tangled with both Kevin Owens and Rhodes in recent episodes which teases that Owens is likely to get involved tonight in some way on the talk show. Owens is the challenger for tomorrow’s Bash at Berlin for the undisputed title and the Waller is surely to stir up animosity between Rhodes and the Prize Fighter.
Possible Additions
Andrade and Carmelo Hayes: Andrade is up 2-to-1 on Hayes in their recent matches. Hayes, although down, seems like the wind is blowing in his direction which could see another match or confrontation between the two. It will be interesting to see what they do with Hayes and Andrade because either push could be killed if not handled correctly. Perhaps other superstars will factor in and expand the program.
Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton: WWE may continue to keep Stratton’s push since winning Money-in-the-Bank, tonight. Tension is building with Jax, especially after last week’s buffoonery involving Pretty Deadly. Jax is annoyed and Stratton could be on the receiving-end of an Annhil-Hate-Her sooner than we think.
Predictions
Street Profits vs The Bloodline:
WWE has a decision to make on managing what can be perceived as a comeback push for The Street Profits. Ford and Dawkins have been on a revival push, of sorts, as of late after not having much to do when paired with Bobby Lashley. Triple H, however, will not pull the trigger on The Bloodline losing the titles so early in their run. The Bloodline retains.
Santos Esobar vs LA Knight:
Knight will retain. Although Escobar is on an upward trajectory, and I believe he will look good, but he will not win. WWE has too many future money matches with Knight for him to lose early.
The Unholy Union vs Jade Cargill, Naomi, and Bianca Belaire:
Tonight will see Cargill, Naomi, and Belaire dominate. WWE is likely building towards Cargill and Belaire regaining the women’s tag-team championships and making a strong run into the end of the year. The addition of Davenport provides an out for the champions to not be pinned.
The Grayson Waller Effect:
The Aussie’s talk show should see it develop into a confrontation between Rhodes and Owens, as that it what it is set-up to do. There’s a chance that Owens takes the high road, but it will be an accidental push of Rhodes into Owens or something of the like by Austin Theory that will create the final tension heading into tomorrow’s Undisputed Title bout.
