On April 1st, 2024, WWE announced that they are bringing back the Clash at the Castle Premium Live Event. The first time they held this event was in 2022, which was hosted in Cardiff, Wales. That event saw over 60,000 people in attendance, being the first PLE held in the United Kingdom since Insurrection in 2003. This year, the company has announced that Clash at The Castle is making its return, this time to Glasgow, Scotland on June 15th, 2024.
More Information on the Clash at the Castle
WWE confirmed on April 1st that they will be bringing back Clash at the Castle in 2024. Later that day, they announced that the event would be held at the OVO Hydro. The event is set to take place on June 15th, 2024, as WWE has slowly transitioned into Saturday PLEs. The show will happen at Glasgow, Scotland, home of WWE superstar Drew McIntyre. This is the first time ever that Scotland is getting their own Premium Live Event. This is the second Clash at the Castle event the company is doing. They created the PLE in 2022, however, they decided not to do it in 2023.
WWE Expansion
This isn’t the only PLE the company is hosting out of the United States this year, as it’s being made clear that WWE is trying to become more global. Firstly, they held the 2024 Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia where over 50,000 fans were in attendance. The Clash at the Castle hopes to bring in even more fans. They’ll be coming to France in May for Backlash, Toronto in July for Money In The Bank, and are hosting their first PLE in Germany this August, which is called Bash in Berlin.
Ever since the WWE was sold to TKO and Endeavor, they’ve made global expansion one of their priorities. However, for a long period of time, the company was only hosting shows in the US, and sometimes Canada. These global visits are making the product more known and will result in more weekly and PLE viewers. Recently, WWE reached 100 million subscribers on their YouTube channel, and they’re looking to grow that number even more with their upcoming international events.
Clash at The Castle 2022
The first time WWE had their Clash at The Castle PLE was in September of 2022. The event was held at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. There, the UK’s own Drew McIntyre faced off against Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship in the main event. However, McIntyre was unable to walk out of that match as the champion.
Another notable match that happened was the classic between Gunther and Sheamus for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Many fans considered it the match of the year, as the two put on a show for the UK crowd. Fans were cheering for Sheamus to win the title at the PLE, however, Gunther walked out still the champion.
Wrestlemania 40
The PLE being held in Drew’s home country of Scotland may have just confirmed a major title change at Wrestlemania. Drew McIntyre doesn’t currently hold a World title, but he’ll be challenging for one at Wrestlemania 40. He is set to face off against World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins on Night 2 of the show.

McIntyre will likely headline this year’s Clash at The Castle. Because of that, he could be taking the world title off of Seth Rollins. Fans have already expected McIntyre to walk out of the show as the new World Heavyweight Champion, and this gives them more of a reason to believe that.
