A former WWE champion has found his way to the top of the TNA mountain. The world of professional wrestling has been going through a lot of intriguing situations with forbidden doors and partnerships. However, at TNA’s Slammiversary show, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Nic Nemeth won the TNA World Championship. The main event of the show was a six-man elimination match for the TNA World Championship as champion Moose faced off against Frankie Kazarian, Joe Hendry, Josh Alexander, Steve Maclin and former WWE champion Nic Nemeth.
The match saw a lot of exciting action but ultimately Nic Nemeth was able to be the last man standing. The match saw Kazarian get eliminated by a Moose spear then Maclin get eliminated by the same move later on. Joe Hendry would next eliminate Moose with his “Standing Ovation” finisher to guarantee a new TNA Champion. Immediately after that a low blow by Josh Alexander to Hendry would set him up for a C4 as Hendry was eliminated, leaving it to Nemeth and Alexander.
Kazarian would run out and attack Nemeth but it would not be enough as a Superkick and a “Danger Zone” would be all that it took for Nemeth to eliminate Josh Alexander and win the TNA Championship.
What does this mean that a former WWE Champion is the TNA World Champion?

This means a lot for Nic Nemeth to win the TNA World Championship. While people wanted to see Joe Hendry claim the TNA Championship due to him being “white hot”, this opens the door for a lot more challengers down the line. It also opens the door to Nic Nemeth returning to WWE NXT, where he was the NXT WWE Champion only a few years ago. One thing that TNA Wrestling does is try to use former WWE wrestlers to elevate their championships and get people talking.
This is going to get press but it will be interesting if Nic Nemeth finds his way on NXT television. We have not seen the TNA World Championship on NXT programming but with the relationship that Nemeth has with Shawn Michaels, it could happen very soon.
Moose lost the TNA Championship in this match and there could be a rematch of Rebellion coming soon for the championship as well. Joe Hendry could also be another choice as they could have Nemeth become a transitional champion. Either way, TNA Wrestling has some decisions to make now that they have switched their world championship to a former WWE Champion that has not wrestled on TNA since his qualifying match against Rich Swann almost a month ago.
