The last episode of the famous WWE Saturday Night Main Event was in 2008. After that, it wasn’t continued but now it is all set to return on December 14 and will be aired on NBC, which is the channel where most of the show was aired back in 2008.
This shocking news was first of all announced by the famous American Magazine known ‘Variety’. The well-known journalist Joe Otterson revealed the news that WWE and NBC signed a five-year deal in 2023. Especially this is the first time that the event will air quarterly on NBC and Peacock.
Contracts of WWE
WWE has signed a contract with NBCUniversal. The new arrangement is the addition of a year’s WWE media agreement with NBCUniversal. The deal was signed in 2023 but it began last Friday and WWE’s SmackDown program moved to the USA Network. This deal not only transferred SmackDown to the USA Network but also made sure to have some Prime-time specials in a year. It was the time between 1980 and 2000 that Saturday Night’s Main event was aired live and all the fans around the world would watch it excitedly.
Tickets will go on sale on September 20 at 10 a.m. Eastern via Ticketmaster. You can already purchase Priority Passes and Seats with a good view by simply visiting WWE’s partnership company called ‘On Location’. This means that they offer privileges such as premium seating, access to the WWE super-star meet and greet, and photo shoots among others.
WWE Shifting Live Events
This will be the first of four WWE primetime specials on NBC which are known to the public until now, when WWE renewed a five-year deal with the NBCUniversal. As the news came out a few days ago, according to the agreement, WWE’s weekly series known as, ‘Smackdown’ shifted back to The USA Network after the show was aired on Fox for many years.
‘SmackDown’ went back to USA Network on September 13. If you are worried about big events like the upcoming ‘Bad Blood’ then no need to worry because it will be aired live on the same platform. Peacock is still the streaming service of WWE’s larger live events in the U. S. including Premier events like the “Crown Jewel”.
“Saturday Night’s Main Event” used to premiere late at night on NBC. 28 episodes aired on NBC from 1985 to 1991. In 1992 the show broadcast two more episodes on Fox. Though, it was later revived on NBC for five more episodes between 2006 and 2008.
Final Thoughts
To the fans of this show who have watched it in the previous years, they will surely have a lot of fun and they will revive positive emotions. However, being able to maintain strong and excitement of the first episode may not be easy to achieve.
But if they achieved that and continued it like other big events then it’s probably going to be the greatest of all time. What are your thoughts about the upcoming ‘Saturday Night Main Event’? Feel free to use the comment section to let us know.
