Wolves has made some fantastic transfers and deadline decisions over the years.
But not every player transfers to a new team and is thrilled with the outcome. Sometimes, player disputes, manager clashes, or arguments over playing time can cause a new transfer to want to return to where they are from.
Other times, players want to stay on their loan side, but their parent club wants them back ASAP. And that is exactly the case of a young player currently at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

Wolves sent out Yerson Mosquera, a young 22-year-old player, to Villareal in the Spanish League. Mosquera wasn’t going to get a lot of playing time on the wolves’ first team, so the manager, O’Neil, thought it best for the youngster to get minutes in another league.
And he made a great decision. Mosquera has thrived at Villareal – so much so, that he wishes to stay and not return to Wolves. Mosquera has earned playing time at both center back and right back, showing his versatility and promise for a long-term career.
But, O’Neil wants his player back with him in the Premier League. Despite Mosquera stating that he would like to stay in Spain, O’Neil wants him to return to Wolves so he can potentially be a starter for his team during the 2024-2025 Premier League season.
Villareal Wants Mosquera to Stay
To add another wrench in the equation, Villareal are keen for Mosquera to stay in Spain with their team. Marca, the team manager, has gone so far as to have a talk with the Colombian player and his agent about garnering a new deal for him to stay in the Spanish league.
‘I have expressed it before: I like Villareal, La Liga and I want to be able to continue providing what I can to the team. I know that not everything depends on me, but on my part, I leave everything open.’
Plus, he believes being at Villareal is not only giving him playing time, but helping him develop as a person and a player.
‘I’m growing a lot as a player and personally. I hadn’t had the opportunity to play on a pitch as nice as Athletic’s…I’m happy, that’s what I’ve expressed from minute one, the way I’ve been adapting here in La Liga.’
That seems pretty clear to us that Mosquera wants to stay in La Liga. His current contract with Wolves lasts until 2026, so he will have to come up with a solution with the English club that will last the next two years.
