Romano further reported that Szczesny is expected to be unveiled during Barcelona’s Champions League clash against Young Boys, although he won’t be eligible to play in the competition until after the January transfer window.
In the meantime, backup goalkeeper Inaki Pena, who has only made 33 senior appearances, has been thrust into the spotlight. Pena recorded two clean sheets in his first two La Liga games this season but conceded four goals in a surprising loss to Osasuna. He will start against Young Boys, but it remains uncertain if he will retain his place when Barcelona faces Alaves on October 6.
