Chicago White Sox Finally Snap 21-Game Losing Streak

Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox beat the Oakland Athletics Tuesday night at the historic Oakland Coliseum to snap their 21-game losing streak. This was tied for the longest losing streak in American League history. The White Sox have had one of the worst seasons in Major League Baseball history with a record of 28-88. They are in last place across the league and 14 games behind the next closest team. This is catastrophic and unheard of.

At long last, the drought is over. They can exhale knowing that they are off the hook for having the longest losing streak in American League history for at least a few more weeks. The fall off of the Chicago White Sox from being a playoff team in 2020 and 2021 to where they are now needs to be studied. How did it get this bad?

White Sox End Losing Streak

The Chicago White Sox last won a baseball game on July 10. Nearly a month went by without them winning a single game. Tonight, they put a decent game together and won against all odds. It does help that the team they were matching up against, the 47-68 Oakland Athletics, who have an ownership group that is actively trying to lose. Nonetheless, a win is a win, and the Chicago White Sox will take it.

Andrew Benintendi got the scoring started tonight for Chicago with a three-run home run in the fourth inning. That would be all Chicago would need as Oakland only was able to scratch across one run. The Sox tacked on two more runs late and won with a final score of 5-1. Parties in the streets of Chicago ensued after this one.

White Sox Look To Start Winning Games

The White Sox got the monkey off their back and won a game. Now they can shoot for the moon and look to win a second in a row. After dropping the series opener and bouncing back with a win Tuesday, the much-anticipated rubber match between these two teams is set for Wednesday afternoon.

The starting pitching matchup consists of Davis Martin for Chicago and Joey Estes for Oakland. Martin got shelled in his last start, giving up four runs in three innings of work. Estes pitched well against the Dodgers last week, only giving up two runs in six innings.

This may be the most disgusting baseball series ever between two teams. Purgatory on both sides. Sickos loved it. Shoutout to the disgraceful A’s owner John Fisher and Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf for making it happen. “Sell the team” chants were heard in the stadium aimed at both of these guys and rightfully so. It’s pathetic what has happened to these organizations. For the Chicago White Sox, they have steered clear of the longest losing streak in MLB history, for now.
