David Moyes has been the manager at West Ham through the highs and the lows, earning a type of respect among players and fans. But, his quick decision to move on from the English club has left some pundits, commentators, and lovers of football feeling a bit slighted by just how quickly the West Ham manager has moved on towards ‘greener pastures.’
Moyes agreed to leave West Ham United at the end of a terrible season for the club, but it might not have been as respectable as one could have thought.

Less than 72 hours after West Ham and Moyes announced their separation at the end of the 2023-2024 Premier League season, the West Ham manager made it known that he would still be in the world of football – just not managing another team.
Moyes and his new employer stated that he would still be a huge part of the footballing world but in a different capacity. Moyes will join the talkSPORT crew for the EURO 2024 competition held this summer, with the former West Ham manager gearing up to ‘provide expert insight and analysis’ through the renowned competition.
Although some fans are feeling as if he ‘gave up’ on West Ham due to his new role, it is much better than seeing an old manager move on to a new team.

Moyes’ Time at West Ham
And fans can’t fault Moyes for trying his hardest during his tenure at West Ham United. Moyes has been the coach for four years, bringing West Ham exciting moments that derived from a challenging start to working at the club.
‘When I joined West Ham for the second time, the Club was one place above the relegation zone, and it has been a terrific journey to have achieved three consecutive seasons in Europe.’
Moyes made it known that he helped bring his team from a struggling fourth-to-last position to a more respectable place in the table during his tenure. United could have easily fallen to the second tier of English football if not for David Moyes’ tactical awareness and player management.
‘After leading the Club to safety, we guided the team to finishes of 6th and 7th in the Premier League, and I was delighted when we won the Europa Conference League title June, the Club’s first major trophy in 43 yaers.’
That is an incredible accomplishment for a team that was barely surviving above the dreaded relegation zone. Moyes has no doubt played a huge role in helping his squad continually succeed in the Premier League with a much lower budget than other behemoth clubs, like Manchester United and Liverpool FC.
And Moyes knows that he can most certainly thank the fans, support, city, and managerial staff for their positivity during his time as a coach.
‘I would like to thank all the palyers for their support, and all the success the yahve achieved, over the last four and a half years. I have really enjoyed working with everyone at West Ham, and I would like to thank the Board for giving me an opportunity to manage this great Club.’
West Ham and Moyes mutually part ways, showing just how much respect they have for one another.
