The Washington Commanders made a great addition to their secondary this Monday. The Commanders signed free agent cornerback Michael Davis in an attempt to build up their defense. The specific terms of Davis’s deal have not been disclosed yet.
The team is in major need of a whole brand-new defensive lineup, especially in the position of cornerback. Following Kendall Fuller’s decision to agree to and sign a deal with the Miami Dolphins last week, the Washington Commanders needed a replacement as soon as possible.
Washington Commanders: Big Weakness
The Washington Commanders defense looks good on the page but where do the statistics go when it’s time to hit the field? Moreover, players like Emmanuel Forbes Jr. and Kendall Fuller were not playing at their best last season. In order to turn this season around, Washington’s cornerbacks need a vast improvement. Additionally, if they are looking to patch up the holes they left in the 2023 season, the Washington Commanders need the defense to become their biggest strength again. The Commanders need to begin looking for new star cornerbacks like Michael Davis. Hopefully, Davis can help undo the damage they faced in the previous year.
Washington Commanders: Michael Davis No Longer Charged Up
The free agency period has sparked excitement as teams have moved many players around the board. Moreover, Michael Davis has now joined the list of many other free agents to get picked for a new home team. Davis will be joining the infamous running back Austin Ekeler as one of the Charger’s free agents who left Los Angeles to sign with the Washington Commanders. Davis hit free agency at the end of the deal he signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in March of 2021, subsequently. He was originally signed for a three-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. Davis also had a $25.2 million extension with the Chargers after the 2020 season.
Although Davis isn’t exactly the player, he once was in 2022. He has the unwavering ability to make a huge comeback with the Washington Commanders. However, Davis is still a talented young cornerback, he is quick and has proved he can play at a high level. It shouldn’t take him long to get back to how he was playing at his prime back in 2022. All we can do now is just watch and wait. Let’s see if the Washington Commanders can get Davis back into tip-top shape to bring them the wins this season.
