The Washington Commanders have been one of the more talked about NFL teams in recent memory and the news coming out will certainly help with that. Nick Jhabvala of The Washington Post is reporting that Washington Commanders president Jason Wright has been moved out of his role and will be leaving the team after the 2024 NFL season.
Wright issued a written statement to the Washington Post discussing the situation and took the approach as it was his decision to leave.
“This feels like the right moment for me to explore my next leadership opportunity. I’m extremely grateful to my Commanders colleagues, our fans and this community for all that we have accomplished these past four years, and am looking forward to the start of a very successful season for the Burgundy and Gold.”
For the upcoming season, he will be a senior adviser but maintain the responsibilities of the team’s de facto president. It will be interesting to see what the Washington Commanders do to replace the first black team president in NFL history.

The Washington Commanders are in a bit of a rebuilding situation as they have new head coach Dan Quinn leading the way and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels under center. The NFC East is loaded with talent and it will be interesting to see how offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury will be calling plays for the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner.
The team has a tough schedule but had a strong draft so they should be in a position to set the building blocks for a massive improvement. The team has a lot of talent with the likes of Jonathan Allen and Clelin Ferrell on the defensive line, Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu at the linebacker spots and rookie Mike Sainristil and Jeremy Chinn in the secondary.
That is not to mention the offense having tight ends Zach Ertz and rookie Ben Sinnott, wide receivers Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson and rookie Luke McCaffrey, and running back Austin Ekeler. In a division where the New York Giants are still finding their identity and the Dallas Cowboys took a step back, there is a chance that the Washington Commanders take the second spot in the NFC East standings if everything goes right.
This team has a lot of new pieces and it could be interesting to see how this team develops as the season goes on.
