WWE Hall of Famer Wants John Cena Big Match

John Cena

During the Money in the Bank event, which took place recently, WWE fans were privileged to see John Cena back in the WWE ring for the first time after April and Wrestlemania 40. The 16-time World Champion had something to tell the WWE Universe, which brought joy and longing at the same time.

A few months ago, John Cena gave the fans a chance to think that he was about to set aside the Hollywood desire and return to the WWE one more time. However, fans could not have expected that the time to have this final chapter would be so soon. The decision he took, when he declared his retirement year and proposed a “retirement tour” that would enable him to give his fans and wrestling a send-off mark.

The moving speech given by Cena will assume the entire WWE roster was affected, which saw all the active superstars and legends jealously begging for a shot at experiencing the true might of the living legend before he finally retires from wrestling.

Among the eager ones is TNA Joe Hendry, who commented, saying that he ‘will anyway get a chance to face John Cena one more time’. John Cena has been pretty much with the WWE throughout his career, so his opponents have been limited to those from the WWE ring, and these are some more possible dream matches.

Other than the current superstar, some of John Cena’s past rivals have also come out to express their desire to get that last shot at the legend. One such opponent, who has quite the history with John Cena, is WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam, who is more than willing to bring back their feuds.

Rob Van Dam and John Cena have shared competition on many occasions, but perhaps one of the moments that they met was in the Hammerstein Ballroom. This wrestling promotion venue had many historical live wrestling shows, including a recent GCW show in 2022; they also fought their highly publicized match at the ECW One Night Stand match in 2006.

In an episode of his recently released show, Van Dam said that he wanted to face John Cena once again. The last time both Van Dam and Cena faced each other was at the ECW One Night Stand match, a rare appearance that Van Dam hopes will be repeated: “I hope they bring me in for a rematch with Cena; that would be super cool.  I understand I could still do that same match. Yes, I do. ”

Cena’s Incomparable Closeness with the Fans

Van Dam was silent but expressive when he joined the praising session of Cena, whom he named the champion of the WWE because of his excellent fan relations for years. In an incident it was stated:

When I used to work with him, he occupied this post. It was clear to everyone why he was in that position.  This team was good at sensing the crowd and engaging it, especially the target audience. Van was aware of going out and that he would come across one of the most hated crowds out there, the outspoken, physical, and most opinionated crowd of all. But he was ready for it, and he responded to it well. Apart from having him on my team, I enjoyed crawling with him.

A lesson that Van Dam learned from Cena on how to deal with fans shows one of the features that has contributed to Cena’s success in the wrestling ring. Regardless of the usual attitude taken over by him, he has time and again proven that he can convert the spirit of the fans into good material for wrestling performances in the ring.
