Wales Thrash Finland to Proceed to the Final Play-Off
Thursday night brought sensational play at Cardiff after Wales thrashed Finland to book a slot in the final play-off against Poland. David Brooks opened the scoring three minutes after the kick-off to give the host a leading goal. Finland, however, was truly pressing after a beautiful strike from Pukki was blocked. 38 minutes into the game, Neco Williams of Fulham doubled the goal to ascertain Wales’ lead before halftime. Pukki, the former Norwich striker, scored the first goal for Finland in the 45th minute to raise their hopes before half-time.

The second half was, however, not in favor of Finland. The Wales supporter did not make it easy for Finland. Brennan Johnson contributed to the third goal for Wales to widen the goal difference between Wales and Finland in the 47th minute. Johnson made it 3-1 in favor of Wales in the second half. Davies made it 4-1 in the 79th minute, but it was ruled offside by VAR. However, Dan James completed the score and sealed the 4-1 win after scoring the fourth goal to proceed in the final play-off against Poland.
Wales will host Poland in the final play-off if they have to proceed to Euro 2024. Poland will travel to Cardiff on Tuesday night to face Wales. Poland snatched a 5-1 win over Estonia on Thursday. Robert Lewandoski will face Wales, who are ranked 29th in the world, while Poland is 31 places below Rob Page. Wales has played 20 matches in Cardiff, won 17 matches, and lost only 3 of the matches in history.
