Von Miller: Buffalo Bills Solidify Defense With His Return

Von Miller is set to return today against the Miami Dolphins.

The Buffalo Bills have solidified their defense with the significant return of a star defensive player. Two-time Super Bowl champion Von Miller has been out the last four games due to a suspension for violating the Nation Football League’s personal conduct policy.

Roger Goodell Makes Decision On Von Miller

On Monday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced that Von Miller’s suspension has been lifted and he could return to the Buffalo Bills ahead of their Week 9 matchup against the visiting Miami Dolphins. Miller, 35, was believed to have been suspended for violating the NFL‘s personal conduct policy regarding a domestic dispute between him and his girlfriend. While he was never charged, the NFL found enough evidence to suspend him.

Miller comes into today’s game with three sacks on the season. He has played a significant role in third downs and closing out games for the Buffalo Bills. The Buffalo Bills rank in the middle of the pack in sacks this season with 20 sacks through eight games. Their pass rush has been able to add pressure on quarterbacks but has not been able to bring them to the ground. With the addition of a player who can be an asset to the defensive line group, having Von Miller in the building will give the franchise an energy and confidence boost.

Miller Returned To Practice On Wednesday

Von Miller made himself available to the media on Wednesday but declined to comment on the suspension. He stated that he was focused on helping a 6-2 team that has an MVP quarterback in Josh Allen playing his best football. Through four games this season, Miller has accumulated 5 tackles and 3 sacks in sparse playing time. He is being used as a closer and late-game sack specialist. Through the first three games of the season, the NFL’s active leader in sacks had a sack in each game.

Final Thoughts

The Buffalo Bills will welcome back Von Miller to a team that is 6-2 and in a prime position to win the AFC East for the fifth year in a row. Buffalo has tough games coming up against the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers in the next few weeks. The franchise is also expected to gain another significant defensive player in All-Pro Linebacker Matt Milano, who suffered a torn bicep in training camp.

With the NFL Trade Deadline just a few days away, it will be interesting to see whether or not the Buffalo Bills acquire more talent to their roster. While teams like Baltimore and Kansas City have added playmakers like DeAndre Hopkins and Diontae Johnson, Buffalo could look to play chess and add a defensive weapon to counter their moves. Notable teams that the Bills have been rumored to be in negotiations with are the Cleveland Browns and Las Vegas Raiders. Other teams that could become sellers are the Tennessee Titans. Von Miller should be active for Sunday’s home game against the Miami Dolphins in Orchard Park, New York.
