Royal Challengers were not able to put their authority in the first half of the seventeenth edition of the Indian Premier League T20 2024. Where they lost usual of the important matches that they have played. While Virat Kohli continued to deliver good scores for his team, questions arose as to his approach and how he was batting not only slowly but also more cautiously than in his earlier days.
Nevertheless, Kohli surprised most of the critics by demonstrating a marvelous comeback in the second half of the year.
Kohli’s Second-Half Transformation
In the latter part of the campaign, Kohli, who was struggling with his strike rate initially, came back with more intent. He played a key role in the turnaround of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which claimed six successive wins to cement its place in the playoffs. However, due to the elimination in the Eliminator by the Rajasthan Royals.
RCB could not progress further, but the best performance by the skipper Kohli of the season continued to dominate the scene.

Speaking about the criticism faced by Kohli, RCB wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik said that he must be thankful to the ‘experts’ who have boosted Kohli by critiquing him. Karthik stressed that criticism motivates Kohli, further emphasizing the reason why this is the case.
’I could write a book on how he was this year,’ said Karthik. ‘He got off to a good start, but because of people like Simon (Doull) and a few others, they just lit the fire in him’ And you don’t want to see that part of Virat Kohli, I think he feeds off of it.

Kohli’s Drive to Prove Critics Wrong
As far as rankings are concerned, Virat Kohli emerged as the winner of the orange cap for the 17th edition of the IPL and scored 741 runs in 15 innings.
He averaged 61. Stokes was the other best performer, with 75 partnerships from 50 balls. 69. He was in great form throughout the second half of the IPL season and was instrumental in getting the RCB into the playoffs.
I think one with Kohli is focusing on proving everyone who has something negative to say wrong, and that alone makes him stand out.
Karthik, for instance, proceeded to explain how Kohli handles criticism and, therefore, made it clear that such situations are refreshing for the Indian skipper as he is more determined to improve.
“Yes, he loves it when people underestimate him, and even though he did not explode and say that, something told me that it really motivates and energizes him, and he was like ‘molten lava’ coming out for him. He is ‘fiery’ and if you find yourself anywhere close to him, be prepared to get burned at some point because he has done this repeatedly,” Karthik continued.
The IPL’ of 2024 is one such example when, despite being under pressure and criticism, this man Kohli proved his worth and proved why he is one of the best players in the country.
