‘Our last T20 World Cup, this is what we wanted to achieve,’ Kohli told the broadcaster after India won their first global tourney in 11 years.
Virat Kohli said that one day, you feel like you won’t have a run in international cricket, but God’s been kind to me. It’s just the right time to do it; it’s a now-or-never situation. That was the last moment of me playing a T20 game for India. We wanted to lift that cup.
Asked if this was to be considered an official declaration about his retirement, Kohli replied, Yes, I have (retired); this is already out in public. Not that I would have announced it even if we lost. It’s time for the T20 game to be taken further by the next generation.
