Virat Kohli Honored with ICC ODI Player of the Year Award Ahead of T20 World Cup Opener

Arora The star Indian cricketer, Virat Kohli, was honored with the important title of ICC ODI Player of the Year. This achievement has come close on the heels of India’s T20 international match schedule against Ireland on June 5, 2017.

The ICC, through its official Instagram handle, offered a glimpse of what 2023 holds for fans of the cricket superstar. He had shown winning his trophy and cap before delightfully fireworks an excellent year 2023 with the bat.

It was also the time when India’s cricket superstar, Virat Kohli, who claimed that he had lost his form in 2021, experienced a glorious rebounce in the same year of 2023. He played 27 games of One Day Internationals and scored a total of 1,377 runs, while his average per match was 72. Currently, the total runs scored by Sanath are 47, and his strike rate is 99.

It comprised six centuries and eight fifties in as many innings; the best individual knock in terms of score was an unbeaten 166.

Kohli was instrumental in India’s Asia Cup 2023 success, and his contribution cannot go unnoticed when, in the all-important match against arch-enemies Pakistan in the Super Four stage, he came out tops with an unbeaten 122 off 94 balls. His form persisted into the World Cup ODI in India, where he played a historic series.

Kohli had scored 765 runs in 11 innings with an excellent average of 95. 62 with three centuries and six half centuries, and the highest individual innings was 117.

That came to an end on the day of the finals, where Kohli was the leading run-getter with an amassment of 765 in a single edition, an endeavor that broke previous record holder Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 673 runs in 2003. He also stepped up the record Sachin Tendulkar created by scoring his 50th ODI ton against New Zealand during the semifinals.

Warm Up: T20 World Cup

Kohli is now confirmed to play for India’s cricket team in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup tournament in the West Indies as well as in the USA. He joins the tournament after a remarkably great performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He won the Orange Cap for the most runs. Kohli scored 741 runs in 15 matches at an average of 61.75 and a strike rate of over 154, including a century and five fifties. His highest score in the IPL was an unbeaten 113.

As Kohli gears up for the T20 World Cup, his recent form and record-breaking achievements bode well for India’s prospects in the tournament.
