Rohit Sharma predicted that Virat Kohli would save his best for the final, and Rahul Dravid echoed this sentiment after the semi-final. Virat Kohli rose to the occasion with a 59-ball 76 in the final. After the tournament, he admitted that he wasn’t feeling well throughout the tournament. The turning point came when he hit three boundaries in the first over of the final. This unexpected success boosted his confidence.

Dravid and Rohit shared their doubts about him. Kohli told Dravid that he felt he had not done justice to the team and himself. Dravid assured him that his chance would come. Kohli also told Rohit before batting that he was not confident. But early restrictions in the latter changed his mind.

In the final, in which he was declared as player of the match for his match-winning 76 from 59 balls, Kohli retired from T20Is. In his post-match press conference, Rohit also confirmed that he has decided to quit T20 Internationals.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ended their T20I careers as the leading run-scorers in the format, with 4231 runs for Rohit Sharma while Virat Kohli was not too far behind, a close second place to his captain, registering 4188 runs. An ideal moment for the analysts to savor this collective effort in these three contemporary elite cricketers has shown the selfless companionship that they shared with Indian cricket.

Virat Kohli has the highest number of runs in T20 World Cup history, 1,216, but the current tournament is nothing more than a tale full of disappointments for him. He could only manage 75 runs in seven innings, his worst form in T20 World Cups.

Promoted to open the innings, Virat Kohli struggled throughout the tournament, hitting 1, 4, 0, 24, 37, 0, 9. The latter was his last chance to make an impact when India lost three wickets in quick succession, with key players Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant. Anchoring the innings, Kohli went back to his basics and partnered with Axar Patel and Shivam Dube.

He then hit a series of powerful shots, which took India 175.  In consideration of the latter, Virat Kohli explained to PM Modi that after the first wickets, he focused on doing what was best for the team. He described the experience as being thrown into a difficult situation but feeling it was meant to be. Virat Kohli’s performance in the final was a testament to his resilience and ability to deliver under pressure.
