Kansas City Royals Vinnie Pasquantino Headed To IL

Vinnie Pasquantino

Fringe contenders for the American League Central title this season the Kansas City Royals have been surprising everyone. They just got some bad news as their First Baseman Vinnie Pasquantino got injured severely, which is not allowing him to play for Kansas. This injury is inconvenient to a team as the players strive toward the playoffs and this may hurt their chances.

They trail the Cleveland Guardians by 1.5 games in the American League Central and hold the second American League Wild Card spot. This injury news can derail a promising 2024 season for the Royals.

Vinnie Pasquantino’s Recovery Status

Vinnie Pasquantino is one of the key members of the Kansas City Royals lineup this year and he is also the first baseman. He has had a good year hitting .262 with 19 home runs, scored 97 runs with 97 RBIs, and a . 760 OPS. However, Pasquantino got involved in a collision with Yainer Diaz when Kansas City lost to the Houston Astros on Thursday night 6-3. His medical reports showed that he had a fracture in his right thumb, and would not be able to play for the next 6-8 weeks.

This is a huge loss for the Royals as he is a very talented player. The loss of Pasquantino is a big blow to their team as he happens to be one of the best players. This will be particularly conspicuous and the team must look for a substitute for the missing member.

The Royals’ Replacement Plan

Luckily, the Royals have a strategy as to how they will operate without Vinnie Pasquantino around. One addition to the regular lineup is that Salvador Perez, the team’s starting catcher, can play first base over the season’s final month.

Freddy Fermin already had good results this season with an average of .296, 6 home runs, and 36 RBI. He will play catcher for the team as Perez moves to first base. This plan should make the team continue to be aggressive enough and this is true since having Vinnie Pasquantino on the field would have been a bonus.

Pasquantino’s Potential Return

Being sidelined for 6-8 weeks, he might be able to come back into the team if the Royals make it deep into the playoffs. However, it is also circulated that he may not get back this year to the game due to the severe injury. Kansas City will surely do everything possible to assist Vinnie Pasquantino to get back on the field in time as the Royals seek to remain relevant in the playoffs. More will be expected from him in the coming weeks.

Thus, the Royals are in a rather tough position with Vinnie Pasquantino on the injured list, although they know what to do. They will have to go out and produce without him in their lineup and wait for the end of the season.
