Raphael Varane on the cusp of leaving Man United for Inter Miami? Free agent on the cards

Raphael Varane on the verge of leaving Man United for Inter Miami.

Varane would become the latest big name to join Saudi Arabia side Miami revolution as they look to build on their strong season so far. Varane, who spent 10 years at Real Madrid before his move to United, penned a message to the Red Devils supporters after his exit was announced. Varane, 31, confirmed last month that he will leave the Red Devils upon the expiry of his contract this summer after three years at the club. United decided against triggering a one-year extension in his contract which would have kept him at the club until 2025

Inter Miami’s interest in Raphael Varane

Inter Miami, the top best MLS club co-owned by David Beckham, has recently made an interest regarding the potential availability of Raphael Varane on a free agent deal to boost his strategic plan. The French centre-back, currently with Manchester United, is reportedly on Miami’s radar, but discussions remain in the very early stages.
Varane, a World Cup winner and seasoned defender with extensive experience in both La Liga and the Premier League, would be a significant addition to Miami’s squad.

Raphael Varane contract was terminated at  Manchester United during end of the season, as it was announced by the club. The 31-year-old is to  depart the club as a free agent after failing to agree a new contract with the Red Devils. A summer of change looms at Manchester United with all but a handful of the club’s stars understood to be available at the right price. New co-owners Ineos are committed to re-shaping the squad and driving down the wage bill to comply with Financial Fair Play, with United’s failure to qualify for the champions league only exacerbating the problem. According to the daily reports, there were complications in negotiations given the Centre-back’s £340,000-a-week salary.

The 31-year-old joined from Real Madrid in July 2021 for an initial fee of about £34m and has made 93 appearances. The former France international helped United win the Carabao Cup in 2023 when manager Erik ten Hag’s side beat Newcastle United in the final. Varane won three La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies in his time at Real Madrid before joining United under then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He won the World Cup with France in 2018 before retiring from international football in February 2023. Manchester United fans have been left devastated after defender Raphaël Varane announced he is leaving the club.

He expressed the following in a social media post:

The first time I went to Old Trafford as a Man United player, it was insane. The atmosphere was amazing. I fell in love with the club, with the fans. You have to play for Man United to understand what that represents.

Despite the fact we had a difficult season. I’m very positive for the future. The new owners are coming with a clear plan and a great strategy.
