The Utah Jazz recently faced the Philadelphia 76ers after a devastating loss to the Oklahoma Thunder. It is almost impossible to come out clean after a storm, and that is just what was needed after the game with Oklahoma. Now, in the Summer League, the Jazz faced off against some of the best the 76ers have.
In the offseason, few teams have worked as hard as the Sixers. With their recent signing of superstar Paul George, the future looks bright in his new home. They have also added Caleb Martin and the big man Andre Drummond. Not to mention, they added Kelly Oubre with more youth in Tyrese Maxey. As it stands, this is one of the best teams the Sixers have put together in a long time, and their future on the court is bright.
Utah Jazz host the Philidelphia 76ers
Utah Jazz came into the game with a 1-1 record after a hard loss, and fans were watching to see if the Jazz brought their game or their remorse. Starting, Jazz had the lead when big 76er Ricky Council ran down the court. With a slap like someone dropped a house on a witch through the hoop, Jazz brought the score from six to eight, and Jazz up a bucket. Talyor Hendricks does a sidestep fake for the Jazz and sinks a three, making it Jazz 13 to six. After that, it was a cold spell, and it looked like the Jazz couldn’t shake the loss of being Thunderstruck by the Oklahoma Thunder.
Going into the second quarter, it was all the Sixers with a score of 23 to 19, 76ers on a great run through halftime. Partway into the third, Jazz was down by eleven when Utah Jazz Keyonte George started things with a spectacular three. Later, Isaiah Collier followed with another much-needed three of his own, cutting Philadelphia’s lead to one. In the last seconds of the third, Collier finds Brice Sensabaugh for the slam, giving the Utah Jazz the lead going into the fourth. From there, it was a battle, with the score seesawing, not tipping, with each team craving a win.
With less than five minutes to go, George of the Jazz sinks a step back three, scoring 72 for Philadelphia and 78 for the Jazz. Sensabaugh finds George with thirty seconds on the clock for the ally oop, which puts the Jazz up by 8. Putting the dirt over the coffin, the Jazz won the final score, 93 to 85.
Summer League highlights
Any question about whether the Jazz could learn from a loss and turn it into a win after the Thunder was answered, making their record 2-1. These are the types of games that some fans live for. The first Summer League game couldn’t get much closer, with a fantastic shot sending them into overtime. The next game was a hard loss, with the third coming back and taking the win. There is a term in sports that says when you lose, you can be caught in quicksand. It’s hard to have too many takeaways from a single loss. It’s important to remember that these young rosters have plenty of room to grow, both individually and as a team.
The Utah Jazz worked and changed until they were close enough to come back and win. For most of their young rookies, a loss will prove to be a learning experience. Furthermore, the win helps to show that everyone is on the right track. The season is young, as is this Utah Jazz team. They are very much playing well and bright days are ahead.
