Monank Patel, the USA captain, has praised his team’s brave approach. He is also hopeful to maintain their winning streak in the T20 World Cup 2024 against heavyweight Pakistan. USA skipper stated that his team is focusing on attacking senior Pakistan bowler Mohammad Amir and “great batter in all formats” Babar Azam
The USA’s win over Canada in the first match shows how dangerous the hosts are. They turned a seemingly hopeless position into an INCREDIBLE victory. This characteristic of a confident team coming off a thrilling 2-1 series victory over Bangladesh in preparation for the event.
Patel believes the seven-wicket victory against Canada will enhance their confidence. They will face Asian giant Pakistan on Thursday at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.
USA’s Strategies Against Pakistan’s Bowlers
Meanwhile, the USA captain claimed that they will focus on tackling star bowler Mohammad Amir in the match, who unexpectedly reversed his retirement decision earlier this year.
“The first game undoubtedly helped us. We had good momentum. We will ensure that we carry that momentum into the following game. Pakistan is a good, seasoned team, and we will play the cricket we have been playing.
“Pakistan has several experienced bowlers. We will concentrate on Mohammad Amir, an accomplished Pakistani bowler, and try to confront him effectively, Patel stated at a pre-match press conference. Pakistan skipper Babar earned his reputation in all formats of cricket, but he excelled in T20Is, scoring 4023 runs in 112 innings.”
Notably, Pakistan and the USA have never met in the shortest format of cricket, and this will be the first T20I between the two teams. Patel stated that Pakistan captain Babar’s wicket will be “important” for his team because the 29-year-old player’s numbers in the short format demonstrate his domination in T20Is.
Babar is a superb batsman in all formats. He is the team’s major player and captain. If he plays long innings, we’ve seen this before. So, his wicket will be quite vital for us, and we are all aware of his statistics. “He’s been very consistent in T20s,” he said.

The USA captain stated that his team is more concerned with their cricket than with Men in Green and that if they find solid footing in the match for 30-40 minutes, they might “take the game away.”
“We will not be focusing much on the Pakistani side. We plan to concentrate on our cricket. And we want to keep playing the same way we have. And, you know, it is Twenty20. You never know what will happen when we spend 30-40 minutes on the field. We can take the game away.”
The USA squad, on the other hand, is full of confidence after opening their campaign with a thrilling victory over Canada, thanks to vice-captain Aaron Jones‘ incredible undefeated 94. As co-hosts, the USA will be eager to use their home advantage and make an impression on the competition.
