USA Has Impressive 35 Point Win Versus Brazil

USA, Olympics

The USA Men’s Basketball Team started its journey through the knockout stage of the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning 122-87 over Brazil in the quarterfinals Tuesday night. Anthony Edwards and Devin Booker led the way for the United States, combining for 35 points. Brazil’s Bruno Cabolco did all he could with 30 points but it was no match for the star-studded USA team.

The USA has been coasting through its first four games here at the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning every game by double digits. They will continue their quest for gold when they face Serbia in the semifinals on Thursday. Here’s how the United States got it done against Brazil.

USA Cruises Past Brazil

Team USA put on a shooting exhibition in their impressive quarterfinal win over Brazil. They shot 57.7% from the field and 48.4% from 3-point land. The USA started off the game with a 40-21 point lead in the first half. Brazil then showed some fight and went on a 10-0 run to cut the lead to single digits. The US followed this up with a big run to go into the half with a 27-point lead. They never looked back.

The biggest highlight of the game was in the third quarter when Anthony Davis put Brazilian and Golden State Warriors Forward Gui Santos on a poster with a put-back dunk off a missed shot. To go along with Edwards and Booker, Joel Embiid had one of his best games of the Olympics with 14 points. Lebron James added 12 points of his own.

Another story coming out of this game was Kevin Durant becoming the all-time scorer leader in USA basketball history. Durant passed Lisa Leslie and now has more points than anyone wearing the red, white, and blue with 489 points scored in international competition. Can any team out there give the United States a test?

Next up for the United States is Nikola Jokic and Serbia. The USA has played Serbia two times over the last month. They beat Serbia 105-79 in the USA Basketball Showcase and then 110-84 in Olympic group play. Serbia gets another crack at the United States with a trip to the Gold Medal game on the line.

Even though they have dominated Serbia twice, matching up against arguably the greatest basketball player in the world in Jokic in a do-or-die game can not be overlooked. Serbia beat Australia earlier on Tuesday to secure their place in the semifinals. The winner of this Serbia versus United States game Thursday will have a date with either France or Germany in the gold medal game Saturday.
