Former Manchester United star David Beckham feels a documentary about their 1998-99 treble-winning season would inspire the current team. Beckham won the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup with United 25 years ago, making them the first English club to achieve so. However, United now faces the danger of missing out on European action next season. The three-time European winners are seventh in the Premier League standings, having won one of their last seven matches. They have conceded 81 goals in all competitions, their worst record since 1976-77.
Manchester United Treble documentary premiere LIVE as David Beckham and other stars attend
The upcoming release will cover the closing stages of United’s historic 1998/99 treble-winning campaign that saw them become the first English club to win the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League in the same season. The Reds scooped all three trophies in the space of just 10 historic days. The documentary, which will be released on May 17, is made up of three parts and will feature interviews with the men who made such a historic achievement possible.
This includes manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The players who have been interviewed include the likes of Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, and David Beckham.

The Road to Glory: United’s Journey to the Treble
Manchester United defeated Bayern Munich 2-1 on this day, 26 May, in 1999, but that scoreline does not even tell the story of one of our most famous matches. The Reds had already secured the Premier League title and FA Cup ahead of traveling to Barcelona on Concorde, with Bayern chasing their own Treble after coming out on top domestically in Germany. Much to his chagrin, Alex Ferguson’s team had so far come up short on the continent, despite dominating at home by winning the Double for the first time in our history in 1994 and repeating the feat in 1996.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s Leadership and Tactical Genius on Man United
Perhaps Sir Alex Ferguson’s greatest gift, certainly the one that has maintained him at the top of the British game for 35 years, has been his ability to evolve. No side he has managed has ever been good enough to satisfy him; he has always been willing to cut and adapt. Probably the most shocking change came in 2000. United had won the Treble the previous season and they were 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League when they met Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Since the Premier League came into being, no game has arguably had such tactical ramifications.
“When I work with the biggest talents, I tell them that hard work is a talent too. And if they can no longer bring the discipline that we ask for here at United, they are out… And if anyone steps out of my control, that’s them dead. I try to give them a bit of confidence, telling them that it is only tactical, and that there are bigger games coming up.”
“For me the hardest thing is to let go of a player who has been a great guy. But all the evidence is on the football field. If you see the change, the deterioration, you have to start asking yourself what it is going to be like two years ahead.”
