WWE’s Premium Live Event, the Royal Rumble, is right around the corner. As usual, it is expected to have plenty of surprises. Fans look forward to this event every year, and it is one of the most popular in the Universe. The Royal Rumble match was designed to be an unexpected event where anything can happen, and anyone can win. Over the years, it has become more like the NBA, where fans can narrow down four or five competitors with a chance to win, cementing their place in the main event at Wrestlemania. What if someone totally unexpected won? What if there was a storyline that WWE fans have never seen before?
The Unexpected Royal Rumble Winner
There are a few WWE superstars who are at the top of the list when it comes to thinking about who could win the 2025 Royal Rumble. Names like John Cena, CM Punk, The Rock, or Roman Reigns come to mind as some that could go on to headline Wrestlemania. What if the WWE creative went in a different direction? I thought about this scenario for years and had a particular superstar in mind who could pull it off tremendously.
What if the winner of the Rumble was no other than R-Truth? That’s right, I said R-Truth! Now, before you chew me out. Hear me out! The match is made to be completely unexpected and to give each of the 30 superstars an equal opportunity at a title shot at the grandest stage of them all, Wrestlemania.
There could be a scenario where you have 4 or 5 of the biggest names in WWE as the final five competitors in the Rumble. They could be ganging up to eliminate someone like Braun Stroman, having the “Monster Among Men” on the ropes. The effort to throw the Monster over the top rope by multiple wrestlers ends with R-Truth using his momentum to not only knock out Stroman but all the other superstars, shocking the wrestling world and becoming the winner.
Road to Wrestlemania for Unlikely Rumble Winner
Now, you may ask yourself, “Self, where do you go from here?” R-Truth isn’t a big enough draw to headline Wrestlemania, and I agree! “But Bobby, the winner of the Royal Rumble, faces one of the main title holders at Mania.” Well, here is the storyline that can avoid having R-Truth in the title picture at wrestling’s “Super Bowl.” In this scenario, R-Truth can come out weekly, bragging that he beat 29 other superstars and feeling invincible.
He can feel like no one can defeat him and even put his main event spot on the line. Week after week, he can sneak out wins against talent that thinks they deserve the top spot. Truth would eventually lose to the guy that WWE Creative wants to headline Wrestlemania 41.
Final Thoughts
I have had this scenario in my head for years now. Originally, the storyline was for Heath Slater, but I think R-Truth could fill a similar role. This would give in to the saying “anything can happen in the WWE” and would be a total shock to wrestling fans worldwide. Truth is one of the most entertaining superstars on the roster and could use a moment like this that people will never forget. Aren’t you sick of the same top guys being pushed and being able to narrow Royal Rumble winners down to a few competitors?
This event is made for the unexpected to happen, for the shock value. And nothing would shock fans more than having a guy like R-Truth win the whole damn thing! Hell, you could even have him accidentally win the Women’s Royal Rumble and lose his rights the very next night to Rhea Ripley. Fans would be intrigued by where this story could go, and it would hold their interest throughout the Wrestlemania season.
