Molly McCann has never been more than an average fighter in the UFC but is one of the biggest stars of the sport in England and will resume that status at UFC 304 against Bruna Brasil.
As a career flyweight, McCann moved down to the strawweight division in her last fight and impressed with a win over Diana Belbita at UFC Vegas 85. In her second fight in the weight class, McCann will face a slight step up in competition against Brasil, a 10-year veteran of the sport.

Molly McCann’s Last Fight
The UFC career of McCann has not always been a smooth ride but ‘Meatball’ never looked better than she did in her last fight with Diana Belbita. The fight was a rematch of one McCann won by a lopsided decision in 2019 but she improved on her previous performance by submitting the Romanian in the first round at UFC Vegas 85. The win was her first by submission in her 20-fight career.
Since debuting in the Octagon in 2018, McCann is 3-2 when fighting in England and has put together the two best highlights of her career in her home country. McCann’s spinning-back elbow knockout of Luana Carolina in 2022 remains arguably the best knockout in women’s MMA history and is still considered one of the top moments in British MMA. She followed up the highlight-reel finish with another spinning knockout four months later against Hannah Goldy in the same arena.
Bruna Brasil’s Last Fight
As the owner of one of the best knockouts in the history of Dana White’s Contender Series, Brasil has not had the best UFC career but has primarily been a part of memorable matchups. Despite dropping her last fight to Loma Lookboonmee and owning a 1-2 record in the promotion, Brasil’s dominant win over highly touted prospect Shauna Bannon still shines bright. Having already derailed one hype train, Brasil is one of the biggest underdogs of UFC 304 but remains optimistic about her outlook for the fight after recently joining the successful Fighting Nerds team. Brasil’s last three wins were all against previously undefeated fighters but McCann will be the biggest test of her career to date.
Key Statistics
According to the betting odds, Molly McCann is the third-largest favorite of the fight card behind Nathaniel Wood and Sam Patterson. Since signing with the UFC, McCann is just 5-4 as a favorite and lost as a huge betting favorite in her last fight in England against Julija Stoliarenko almost exactly one year before UFC 304.
Though she has gone to a decision in exactly half of her professional bouts, McCann has not seen the scorecards since 2021 as her last four fights have all ended in the first round. Brasil has gone to a decision in just 35 percent of her fights, a much lower rate than McCann, but has yet to finish a fight in the UFC. The Brazilian was knocked out by Denise Gomes in her UFC debut but before that had not legitimately lost in nearly a decade.
