UCONN freshman Guard Stephon Castle announced on Friday his intention to enter the 2024 NBA Draft. Castle is coming off a national championship run with the Huskies and is the No. 9 prospect in the upcoming draft according to ESPN.
Castle averaged 11.9 points this season with Connecticut. He averaged 18 points and five boards in UCONN’s Final Four win against Alabama and the national championship game against Purdue. Castle was a McDonald’s All-American before coming to Storrs, and now he is making the jump to the next level.

Castle has an NBA-ready body as he is 6’6” and 215 pounds. He can even play as a small forward once he gets to the league. Castle comes into the league initially as a defender and a distributor. He was a crucial part of UCONN’s defense during their championship run and was tasked with defending the opposing team’s best player.
One of the worst three-point shooters in the nation last season at under 27 percent, Castle will need to improve that part of the game to make a bigger impact in the NBA.
Things will look much different for UCONN next season as Center Donovan Clingan also declared for the NBA Draft following the national championship game. Both players are expected to be high picks in June’s NBA Draft.
Castle had a great freshmen season and will look to make a large impact in the NBA during his rookie season.
