Huge Trios Match Confirmed For Double or Nothing on 5/22/24 AEW Dynamite

AEW Trios Champion Jay White

The May 22nd edition of AEW Dynamite saw an episode that continued storylines and buildups for the upcoming AEW Double or Nothing PPV. This week’s Dynamite saw a #1 contenders match, a tag team match that included a world champion, as well as a huge trios match made for the upcoming event.

The trios match that was confirmed on AEW Dynamite was between the Bang Bang Gang (FKA Bullet Club Gold) and Death Triangle. This match will be for the AEW and ROH Unified Trios Championships, currently held by Jay White and The Gunns. This match will be the first time Jay White and Pac ever step into the ring together.

The Bang Bang Gang vs Death Triangle has officially been confirmed for Double or Nothing 2024. The match will be for the ROH and AEW Trios Championships, two titles that were unified by Jay White, Austin Gunn, and Colten Gunn at AEW Dynasty.

The Bang Bang Gang has been on a tear recently, first winning the ROH Trios Championships in January 2024, and then taking over the entire division at Dynasty. Pac has also been on a run of his own recently, and had a great match at AEW Dynasty against Kazuchika Okada, despite taking a loss.

Death Triangle is reuniting for the first time since January of 2023, something that has a lot to do with the injuries suffered by Rey Fenix and Pac.

Both Pac and Rey Fenix had substantial injuries in the year of 2023 that would lead to this long layoff for Death Triangle.

Pac was out for months after he suffered an undisclosed injury against Gravity on the July 26th, 2023 AEW Dynamite episode. This injury kept the star out for months, not being able to compete with both Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo. However, he also suffered a nose injury which resulted in him being unable to wrestle from March 2023 to July.

Pac finally made his long-awaited return on the March 9th edition of AEW Collision and then made his in-ring return on the next week’s Dynamite. He has been on a solid singles run as of late, but it seems like now he is entering back into trios competition.

Rey Fenix was also recovering from an old injury, which kept him out of action from October 2023 until late April 2024. He made his return match on the April 27th edition of AEW Collision, where he defeated The Beast Mortos to claim his first victory back.

Death Triangle is a trio that has definitely proved to be the face of the 6-man division, given that they have had multiple runs with those AEW Championships.

They competed in a Best of 7 series against The Elite in early 2023, and although they lost those championships by the end of it, they were able to toe-to-toe with a trio that has been competing together since the mid-2010s in Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, who began teaming in NJPW.

However, the Bang Bang Gang has recently shown that they also have full capabilities of being the leaders of this trios division. They unified the AEW and ROH titles, and have defeated every team that has faced off against them.

This dominant run could very well continue at Double or Nothing, or we could once again see Death Triangle as the new champions.
