Earlier tonight, the four Heisman Trophy finalists were announced. The finalists are Oregon Quarterback Dillon Gabriel, Colorado Wide Receiver/Cornerback Travis Hunter, Boise State Running Back Ashton Jeanty, and Miami Quarterback Cam Ward. The ceremony will take place on December 14 at Lincoln Center in New York City.
The reigning winner is former LSU Quarterback, and current Washington Commanders Quarterback, Jayden Daniels. Which player will be named college football’s best player later this week and take home the Heisman Trophy?

Dillon Gabriel
Gabriel was the quarterback of the 13-0 Oregon Ducks this season. He was eighth in the nation in both passing yards and passing touchdowns. He is also coming off a stellar game in the Big Ten Championship. Gabriel tossed 4 touchdown passes against the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday.
Travis Hunter
Hunter, one of the best wide receivers and cornerbacks in the nation, had an unprecedented season. He finished sixth in the country in receiving yards and added 4 interceptions on the other side of the ball. Colorado Head Coach Deion Sanders believes his star player is the obvious pick to win the Heisman Trophy this season.
Ashton Jeanty
Jeanty helped propel the Boise State Broncos to the No. 3 spot in the College Football Playoff. He is on the precipice of history and is only 131 yards away from breaking the single-season rushing record set by Barry Sanders. Jeanty led the nation in rushing yards by nearly 800 yards and was tied for the most rushing touchdowns this season with 29. He will have at least one more game, and possibly more, to write his name in the college football history books.
Cam Ward
Ward was a favorite to win the Heisman Trophy earlier this season, but a few dropped games down the home stretch of the regular season hampered his chances. He still finished the year second in the nation in passing yards and first in passing touchdowns though. In any other year, Ward would leave New York with the hardware, but it will be difficult for him to do so this year.
Final Thoughts
Hunter is the prohibitive favorite to win the Heisman Trophy followed by Jeanty and Gabriel. The Colorado phenom should win the award because he was one of the best players in the nation at two positions this year. Jeanty has a strong case to win the trophy as he should set history and willed Boise State to a Mountain West title and a bye in the College Football Playoff.
