Tracy McGrady Predicts Dallas Mavericks As NBA Champions

Tracy McGrady has high hopes for the Dallas Mavericks this season.

Tracy McGrady recently predicted the Dallas Mavericks as the 2025 NBA champions. McGrady, 45, never played for the Mavericks in his 16-year NBA career as a shooting guard and small forward, but he’s a seven-time NBA All-Star and a seven-time All-NBA selection. He is also a two-time NBA scoring champion and the winner of the 2001 NBA Most Improved Player Award.

McGrady appears to understand the current NBA stars’ issues with winning, including Luka Doncic’s issues, such as fouling out, injuries, defensive shortcomings, and arguing with referees. Doncic, 25, has yet to win an NBA championship with the Mavericks, but his first trip to the 2024 NBA Finals was a good start in his six-year NBA career. Here’s what you need to know about McGrady’s recent prediction.

Tracy McGrady’s Prediction

Tracy McGrady’s recent prediction sounds like a tall order for the Dallas Mavericks, but it’s doable. The 2024-25 NBA season is just around the corner, and according to McGrady, Luka Doncic and the Mavericks can come out on top and win it all this upcoming season.

McGrady recently took to Instagram and wrote an arguable announcement,  “I can’t see the (Boston) Celtics doing it again … F— man, Luka (Doncic) gon’ sweep the board… My preseason pick for NBA champ is gonna be the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas made it there last year, I got Luka being the regular season MVP.”

McGrady’s Comments

Doncic isn’t the only player on the Dallas Mavericks roster, which might’ve prompted Tracy McGrady to make another comment on Klay Thompson. Thompson, 34, is one of the newest — and oldest — players on the Mavericks roster at the moment. Although not a “Splash Brother” anymore, the former Golden State Warriors star shooting guard can still help out the Mavericks. McGrady recently commented to the general public, “Adding Klay Thompson I think is gonna make them a favorite, definitely a contender … I mean, why not? They were definitely contenders without Klay.”

More McGrady Predictions

Tracy McGrady didn’t stop there. McGrady made more predictions that Doncic would win both the NBA regular season and Finals MVP awards for 2024-25. After all, Doncic’s one of the best players in the NBA, and the lone active assists leader in RotoWire’s top five list of assists leaders in Dallas Mavericks history.

McGrady recently said, “So, my NBA Finals pick is gonna be Luka Doncic. He’s gonna sweep the MVP this year. He’s gonna win it in the regular season, and he’s gonna win the NBA Finals. Luka Doncic is taking home two MVP trophies along with the Larry O’Brien trophy.”

In other news, Kyrie Irving’s ANTA Kai 1 “Speed Tribe” sneakers will hit the shelves on Saturday, October 26. Irving’s “Speed Tribe” sneakers feature a vibrant, new colorway that drew inspiration from the ever-growing family Irving built in his journey. In addition, Dallas announced MavsTV, a one-team-only NBA League Pass type of streaming option, for fans to watch Mavericks games for $14.99 a month or $124.99 a season.
