Tottenham Boss “That’s not What Sports is About. It’s not What I Love About the Game.’: Postecoglou Slams His Fans Before 5/15 Game

Tottenham’s boss was mad after their recent loss in the Premier League – and he let everybody know it. During a post-match press conference, Tottenham Hotspur’s boss Postecoglou shamed fans who took the game a little too seriously. After all, it’s just a game – right?

Postecoglou is a highly-respected Aussie manager who has captured the hearts of Premier League and Spurs fans in the English top tier of football with his motivational tactics, fun personality, and intense coaching. But, fans still give him stick for losing key games and dropping points.

However, this Australian gaffer isn’t one to back down when it comes to confrontation.

Tottenham Manager Bites Back at Angry Fans

Tottenham Hotspurs face off against Manchester City in a hugely important match to see who will win the trophy in the top level of English football. The title race is well and truly on between Arsenal FC and Manchester City, with City currently playing with a game in hand. This means that if they win the rest of their games, they win the league. However, if they drop points, Arsenal have a chance at keeping their coveted top spot.

Spurs fans hinted at the fact that Spurs could potentially ‘throw’ the game against City on Wednesday to provide Arsenal with more of a challenge at winning the league. Not only is this unsportsmanlike, it is unethical and against every sportsperson’s competitive nature.

If City win the last two games, they could win the league. Spurs directly stand in the way of Pep Guardiola’s men from reclaiming the EPL trophy yet again.

Postecoglou made sure that his fans knew they would go out there and give everything they had to win against City.

‘If you go by social media there’s probably 99% of Spurs supporters who don’t (want to win against City). If that’s your world, please don’t tell me that’s your world…we’ll need to have a counseling session if that’s your world. I understand rivalry. I was part of one…but I have never, and will never, understand if someone wants their own team to lose.’

We agree with Postecoglou. If you are a real sports fan, there is no way you want your team to lose – no matter the circumstances. Although Hotspurs fans could be anti-Arsenal, this doesn’t mean they should jeopardize the integrity of the club to ‘throw’ a game and fix results.

Tottenham face off against City on Wednesday to see if they can prevent Pep’s men from still having a chance at the top spot in the EPL. On the other hand, Arsenal plays Manchester United to see if they even have a hope at staying on top. Manchester United have been in terrible form as of late, so we can expect the Gunners to win – but you never know.

After playing Manchester City at home, Tottenham Hotspurs face off against Sheffield United in an away match for the final time of the season. The highest that the Spurs could end the year is with 66 points. They have all but guaranteed fifth place, meaning they are a part of Europa League next year.

Although fans could see this as a slightly disappointing year, being in European football is better than other top teams – like Chelsea FC and Manchester United – can say for themselves.
