Fernando Torres Has Been Named As Head Coach Of Atletico Madrid's B Team

Fernando Torres, the former Spanish striker, will be the new head coach for Atlético Madrid B Team. Atletico Madrid has made the official statement through their official website.

Torres started his career in 2021 after retiring from professional football for 40 years. He was coaching Atletico’s under-19s. His new responsibility will be the first as a senior manager. He is succeeding Luis Tevenet, who has joined Diego Simeone’s senior staff in preparation for the 2024-25 campaign.

In his tenure as coach of the U19s, Torres bagged two league titles; Copa de Campeones and they reached the semifinals of the UEFA Youth League.

Fernando Torres New Coach for Atletico Madrid Team B

After signing his new contract with Atletico Madrid’s team B, Fernando Torres said: “I am at home and I feel a huge responsibility since I decided to face this new stage. It has been three years of constant learning. For me, this step is very important and I want to be ambitious to do things better every day, to face the challenges that come and the responsibility in the best way, and at the same time know that I am in no hurry and no need to take a false step. I accept it as a great challenge with a lot of ambition and the peace of mind of knowing that we are prepared.”

“The first thing is to know what the objective of a reserve team is, which is to contribute a lot of players to the first team. We have to insist to the players that their dream has to be to play for Atlético de Madrid and prepare them for the first team. The best way to do it is to compete and face a very difficult category with ambition, knowing that Atlético de Madrid demands that you give everything. Try to compete as best as possible, have the team as high up in the table because that is what will prepare them for what comes next, which hopefully will be our first team,” he stressed.

Fernando Torres Football Career Achievements

Fernando Torres was actually among the most feared strikers. He oozed class whenever he was on the pitch. His nickname was El Nino, for he had set a trend for wagging tongues since he was young.

He fought hard to rise in the ranks at Atletico Madrid and became the club’s youngest-ever player in 2001. He also moved to be the club’s youngest captain at the age of 19 years.

Fernando Torres scored more than 100 goals as a forward while playing for Atletico Madrid. He also played for Spain and helped them win the European Championship of 2008 and 2012. He was also part of the team when they won their first World Cup in 2010.

He also played for Chelsea, AC Milan, and Liverpool, where he won the Champions League and the Europa League.

It only seems fair for Atletico Madrid to support one of their own who has proved time and time again that he is not only a talented player but a talented coach, as well.
