Tony Ferguson is one of the most fierce fighters in the whole UFC. He has been fighting in the UFC for years now. The Champ is now 40 years old and has achieved a lot of victories against hard opponents. Recently, the Champ fought against a tough opponent at UFC Abu Dhabi. Michael Chiesa gave a hard time to Ferguson, and at last, Chiesa rose victorious against the champion. Ferguson couldn’t take any more pressure, and he lost by submission. To everyone’s shock, Ferguson was very weak enough to lose in the first round of the fight.
Last Fight of Tony Ferguson
Tony Ferguson was a great fighter in his prime, who would shatter Earth in his prime with his fist and show his dominance. But as every rise has a fall, Ferguson also aged in the sports he loved and worked hard in. Ferguson has competed in 35 fights in total, but now, as he is not in his prime, he is losing a lot of fights. Tony is now standing at a place where he has lost 8 fights, and that becomes more awful when he has lost all these fights consecutively.
Seemingly, Ferguson’s last fight was in Etihad Arena. It was an emotional moment for every single fan of Tony Ferguson and Tony himself as his face represented all the emotions he was carrying in his chest after a loss.
Leaving Just One Glove in Octagon
After the fight, Tony Ferguson talked with Daniel Cormier in the Etihad Arena. He was appreciated by the crowd in the Arena, and that was what made him emotional. Tony only wants to fight for the UFC, and he has always dreamed of being a champion. So, there is a higher chance that Ferguson will be uncertain about leaving UFC. His action of leaving one glove in the octagon shows that he is not sure about leaving the Octagon. “I don’t want to retire. But I love the UFC, and I don’t want to go anywhere else. So, I’m not going to put both gloves down. I’m going to put one. I’m going to keep the other one just in case.”
Tony till Unsure to Leave the Octagon
Daniel Cormier, who talked to Tony Ferguson after the fight, is also a veteran UFC Champion who has performed incredibly well in his Prime. He has fought great fighters like Jon Jones and many more. He has also accepted the fact that he is getting old, and that was the time for him to step down from the Octagon before something bad happened to his body or financial status. He started cooperating in other things for UFC, such as being an amazing Commentator.
Such as DC, Tony Ferguson can also move on to the other things in life and enjoy his life a little bit. Such great UFC fighters have a great opportunity to build a massive business empire for the rest of their lives with the money they have made. But Tony is still unsure if he wants to retire or not as he said, “I ain’t done yet, nah it ain’t time yet, man. I got a lot of s*** to work on.” It shows Ferguson’s competitive nature, which is signified in every sentence he speaks now.
Although he might retire now, his fans will never forget the amazing performance of him in the Octagon throughout his career. And now might be the right time for him to retire and work on other realms of his life. What do you think about Tony Ferguson? Let us know in the comment section.
