It is not all doom for Tony Bellew that there is no huge fight on the horizon for Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, despite the latter’s victory over Kubrat Pulev and the former’s shocking defeat by Daniel Dubois. For the former cruiserweight champion, the oldest desire to see two British heavyweights is still hugely popular, and even Fury’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk will still not diminish this desire.
Joshua’s Loss Doesn’t End Interest in Fury Fight
In an interview with AceOdds, Tony Bellew said that fans have not lost interest in a fight between Joshua and Tyson Fury. Although, Anthony Joshua was even beaten by Dubois. In Tony Bellew’s opinion, regardless of the outcome of the December fight when Fury is to meet Usyk again, fans of boxing from around the world.
“You can never say a man’s fully out. Tyson Fury’s a really good fighter, and he’s just unfortunate to come across one of the greatest fighters the world’s ever seen in Oleksandr Usyk,”
Usyk-Fury Rematch Expected to Go Usyk’s Way
While Fury gears up for the rematch with Usyk, Tony Bellew does not expect Fury to come out on the winning side. He looks to do so and hopes that Usyk will produce the same sort of performance as the first time they met. However, he says, that as long as Fury succumbs to Usyk, the desire to see Fury, Joshua will still be there.
“The fight with Deontay Wilder has lost its shine after his last two defeats, but Joshua vs Fury is different. As long as Fury isn’t wiped out by Usyk, there’s still a big audience for the Joshua fight.”
According to Bellew despite Aj’s, he still has fans to support him, and lots of boxing fans and followers are excited to see Joshua soon in the ring. Oleksandr Usyk and Fury are going to have some serious tussle. The winner will be an opponent of Joshua.
Tony Bellew Future of Heavyweight Boxing: Joshua vs Fury
Joshua, who has won 28 of his 32 bouts via knockout, still has a get-out clause to face Dubois again, while Fury, who has taken eight of his 36 professional bouts, including 24 by knockout, retirement seems to be lurking around him.
But there will be lots of money on the table for both fighters according to Tony Bellew in 2025 and the fight will inarguably sell out arenas. despite the mishaps of the recent past, this upcoming fight between Joshua and Fury is one of the most anticipated fights in the Kingsley heavyweight division not to mention the fans in the whole of the United Kingdom.
Final Thoughts
Even with Anthony Joshua’s recent loss and Tyson Fury’s uncertain future after his rematch with Usyk, Tony Bellew is confident that a fight between the two British heavyweights will still be a major draw. Still, given the massive fan interest and the chance at landing a huge bag both Joshua and Fury could make one of the biggest matchups in boxing history if the fight goes down in 2025
