Tom Aspinall has been fighting for the Heavyweight Championship Title for a long time. He has also fought in the UFC 304. Tom is a great fighter with 15 wins and 3 losses, who is now a challenger for the UFC heavyweight title and calling out Jon Jones for a fight, so if he accepts, then it’ll take place in UFC 305 or UFC 306. But that doesn’t seem to be the case right now, as Jon Jones is now looking out to fight Stipe Miocic. If we look at the statistics of both fighters, we can easily see that Jon Jones is far stronger than Miocic.
Aspinall Compares Miocic and Jon Jones
Tom Aspinall fought Curtis Blades in UFC 304, and he completely dominated Blades. Tom bombarded Curtis with punches, and the result was obvious: he was knocked out, and Tom made a 3-win streak after this win with straight knockouts in 60 seconds. Tom is looking forward to challenging Jones in a fight, but now he is sitting in line to challenge Jones because Jones is taking another fight with Miocic. So, Tom now thinks that Jones is picking easy fights and that the right person to fight for the title is Tom Aspinall himself.
There are higher chances for Jones to win because of Miocics age and poor performance recently, as in the recent fight of Miocic, he was knocked out by his opponent. But if Jones defeats Miocic, it will add more to Jones’ legacy. However, if we look into the matter deeply, Tom Aspinall is a much bigger threat to Jon Jones’s legacy than anyone else.
Although Tom does not disrespect Jon Jones, “Of course, Jon Jones is not an idiot,” he also knows that if he doesn’t fight him and goes for the other fighters like Miocic, it will add more and more the legacy of Jon Jones being undisputed and as Tom Aspinall said “Even though he might act like it sometimes, he’s not unintelligent. Stipe is one of the best heavyweights, if not the best heavyweight of all time. Stipe’s also 43 years old, coming off a three-year layoff, and his last fight was a knockout loss.”
Outstanding Performance of Tom Aspinall
Tom Aspinall has been performing very well for a long time. He has now consecutive 8 wins and most of them were a knockout. And a shock to everyone every single win of the honey badger was through a knockout in the first round. Only one of them managed to take the fight against Aspinall to the second round.
As Jon Jones has suffered from a long break because of a serious injury to his muscles he will be now coming back to the octagon but with a plan and everyone knows that. Being a heavyweight champion is not a Joke and defending your title is much more difficult for a long time is much more difficult. And as he is coming back to the Octagon, so he will not be fighting against a massive threat to his title and his legacy.
Tom also knows this fact because he said, “I’m not going to say he’s scared because he isn’t.” That’s what every fighter would do if he was in place of Jones, and he did so, “But he’s smart in his approach, and he’s going to fight Stipe before me every time,” Aspinall said.
Jon Jones Against Tom Aspinall
Every Combat Sports lover would never miss the fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall if it ever happened. There is a higher chance that Jon Jones will accept Tom’s challenge if he wins against Stipe Miocic. But things are not clear to anybody, not even Tom, because of Jones being concerned.
Tom considers Jon Jones a clever opponent and he expresses his thoughts about Jones being unpredictable in this way “Like I said, Jon Jones is a bit of an unusual guy. You don’t get what you see. He’s tricky, slimy, and snaky, he does different movements. He says one thing and does another. So I don’t know. I have no idea, to be honest.”
