This was one of four NBA games last night. But the Los Angeles versus Milwaukee Bucks matchup proved to be a great regular season game. The Fizer Forum can be a tough place to play, but the environment lived up to a playoff environment. Many predicted a Milwaukee win with the King being out as he is dealing with an injury. But the Bucks dominated the first quarter and finished with 32 points against the Lakers’ 16 in that same timeframe. The two teams had a 26-26 tie in the second quarter. However, the Lakers overwhelmed the Bucks in the third quarter as they finished with a 2-point lead.
The Lakers Catch Up With Milwaukee
The Los Angeles Lakers sought to close their 14-point deficit when the fourth quarter kicked off. Anthony Davis helped the Lakers amass points and overturn their initial deficit. His efforts bore fruit as the Lakers finished with 27 points while the Bucks had 13 points. Therefore, each team had 101 points after the fourth quarter, and the game extended to overtime. The first overtime ended in a 16-16 draw and the teams competed in the second overtime.
Malik Beasley helped the Bucks reduce their points margin to two. Unfortunately, Davis made two successful free throws that extended the Lakers’ lead to four points as the match ended 124-128.
How Did Various Players Perform?
Darvin Ham, the Lakers’ coach, congratulated his team for their hard-earned victory. He stated that they united and gave their all in the game, hence marking a good beginning of their six consecutive away games.
Austin Reaves commended Davis for his stellar performance. He continued playing despite injuring his knee after colliding with Khris Middleton and having reduced mobility. Reaves stated that Davis didn’t want to give up in their battle and he usually has a huge impact in the team whenever he plays.
Davis played for almost 52 minutes, inspiring his teammates to press on against the fan-favorite Bucks, who had a six-game winning streak before their clash. Davis made two assists, four blocks, 23 rebounds, and collected 34 points in the game. His defensive display thrilled the Lakers’ supporters.
D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves garnered 29 points each as they offensively backed Davis. Reaves finished with 10 assists, 14 rebounds, and 29 points, this being the second triple-double in his career.
The Lakers Turn Tables Against the Bucks
The Bucks were stunned after losing their lead in the first three quarters before the Lakers caught up with them and ended the last quarter with a 101-101 draw. Taurean Prince’s late throws spoilt the party for the Bucks.
Even so, Giannis Antetokounmpo was the Bucks’ leading scorer with 29 points. Damian Lillard followed him closely with 27 points. Doc Rivers, the team’s coach, stated that failing to extend their lead against the Lakers cost them the game. He added that a team can easily increase an 18-point margin to 30 points. Instead, the Lakers reduced the margin from 18 to 10 points as they increased their attacks, hence teaching the bucks a “good lesson.”
The Lakers Are Back on Track
The Los Angeles Lakers’ victory over the Milwaukee Bucks extends their stay in the tournament. They have a 40-32 record as they hold the ninth position in the Western Conference. The Bucks have a 46-26 record and are the Eastern Conference’s second-place holders.
