The Florida Panthers just finished a long road trip that started in New York and ended in the NHL Global Series in Finland. The Panthers are on a five-game winning streak and are heading home for Thursday night’s game against the Nashville Predators. The Florida Panthers are in first place in the Atlantic Division and are 9-3-1 on the season.
Florida Panthers Keep On Rolling
Florida Panthers Sam Reinhart is the team’s leading goal scorer this season, he has 21 points, 10 goals 11 assists, and a + 13 rating. Reinhart currently is tied for first in the NHL in goals and points. He also leads the Panthers with four power play points. While in Finland the European Liiga league honored Reinhart. It is a tradition that the team’s leading scorer will wear a golden helmet to mark their achievement. Reinhart embraced the custom golden helmet and wore it during practice during the Global Series.
Reinhart became the only player in NHL history to record two multi-goal performances in games outside North America, according to NHL Stats. Sitting on a five-game point streak, Reinhart has found the back of the net in four straight games and has notched nine points (five goals, four assists) during that span. Head Coach Paul Maurice said, ” He’s just coming into his prime.”
Not only did Reinhart have a fun time during the Global Series, but so did Florida Panthers Captain Alexsander Barkov. Barkov is a Finland native. Barkov is the first ever born Finnish Captain to raise the Stanley Cup. Barkov recalled playing in Finland “It’s amazing.” Now in his 12th season with the Florida Panthers, Barkov leads the Panthers franchise in all-time leader in goals (267), assists (447), and points (714). He also won the Selke Trophy as the NHL’s top defensive forward twice (2020-21, 2023-24) and captained them to their first championship last season.
Looking Ahead To a Five-Game Homestand
The Florida Panthers are now heading home after the five-game road trip and will now have a five-game homestand. The Panthers will start the five-game homestand with the Nashville Predators on Thursday, Philadelphia Flyers, two games against the New Jersey Devils, and end the homestand with the Winnipeg Jets. There are 10 points available for the Panthers to pull ahead in the standings. The Panthers of late have been picking apart teams and are not easy to play against.
The Florida Panthers have been scoring on power plays, getting short-handed goals, and are a tough opponent five-v-five. Also, Goaltenders Sergei Bobrovsky and Spencer Knight have been outstanding in goal for the Panthers.
